Realis 05: Feast at the Citadel Bein 04
This episode carries content warnings for body horror and military violenceOn a moon of muddy histories, none is as unclear as that of the Citadel Bein. There are, in fact, no records of a fortress ever being raised on the hill above the lake. But when you cannot find the roots, find the branches: Date the changes in county-wide taxes. Track the yearly increase in travel during the harvest season. Re-read the stories of the pigs and the soil and cross-reference the lyrics of the major rondeaux. ...

Realis 04: Feast at the Citadel Bein 03
This episode carries content warnings for body horror, injury and magical intoxicationLike many of the truths of Realis, the nature of the Creature—conceptually—is contingent on context and subjectivity. In illustration: For the Child, the Dog may be First a companion, Second a responsibility, and Third a curious sliver of raw wilderness. For the Parent, the Dog may be First a living lesson, Second a dutiful guard, and Third, a fellow Caregiver, capable of providing food, shelter, and spirit...
Hunters ARE Evil - Hunter x Hunter ep. 116-118: Media Club Plus S01E37
Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.This week we’re starting off with maybe the most important episode of Hunter x Hunter to date: a bottle episode featuring Gon’s emotional face-off with Pitou, and Killua’s emotional face-back with Gon (because Gon never turns around in this scene). We’ll get into it in depth but that’s literally all that happens in this one. In the next two episodes we check back in with a...

Realis 03: Feast at the Citadel Bein 02
As far as traveling spectacles go, the Krinsky Family Circus has it good. Because it only operates on the four moons of the Tetraspherica, which orbit close enough for low orbit shuttles to traverse, it does not need to rely on the mercurial whims of an Orphan Vessel. And because of the variety of cultures encountered on its circuit, there is always the opportunity to find new hires and encounter fellow showmen from which new techniques. Most of all, because the route is short and reliable, Thos...

Realis 02: Feast at the Citadel Bein 01
Ulled is a pocked and placid-seeming agricultural moon. But as the saying goes, be wary the still lake. Yes, farmers speak softly and tend to their crops with loving cultivation. Yes, life is quiet and late afternoons are restful. Yes, harvest work brings reward. But then there is underneath. There is underneath. But Those Nerveless Chancers, The Krinsky Family Circus And Travelling Curiosity, they know only what is above. They know they step on fertile soil and soft grass, perfect for staking the...
Gon Is the Imposing Presence - Hunter x Hunter ep. 113-115: Media Club Plus S01E36
Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.The King is already gone, but there's a castle full of ants desperate to find and protect him. Gon and Killua have a brief encounter with Netero and Zeno on their way to find Pitou. Killua especially is having some sort of crisis (crises?). Zeno almost has words of warning for the boys, but instead says "hey man don't look at me you figure it out". Meanwhile, Ikalgo ...
A Musket Can Contain a Sword: What’s New @ the Table
There’s lots of clowns in the world! On Thursday we ran a live premiere of the intro to Realis, the game Austin’s been working on over the past few years. As you may already know Realis is the base for our next patrons-only campaign (not to be confused with our next main season, which is using Fabula Ultima.) The character creation episode is already up for $5+ patrons, but the first arc will also be going up free for everyone in the main feed one week after each episode is released on Patre...
Realis 01: Those Nerveless Chancers
I want you to close your eyes and imagine with me: Imagine Realis Itself, the Radiant Planet at the heart of the Thousand Moons, that orb which lights the cosmos entire. Above it, the betrayer star, the Corpse Sun, red and sick and pulsing ill, small and fainter by the day. Below it, hungry and roiling, the Great Void, an abyss of voracious clouds. And in between, those thousand moons, countless except you know their number. Varied eternally, yet all dwarfed by the azure orb around which they gl...

VH1's Behind The Spirit - Hunter x Hunter ep. 110-112: Media Club Plus S01E35
Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.It's been almost 20 episodes since the Extermination Team took a train to East Gorteau to prep for an attack on the castle and almost 40 since Gon and Killua warped to Kite, by chance, officially starting their journey to the most dangerous place on earth. What seemed like a simple plan, to give cover for Netero to fight the King by separating the royal guards, is now a confusin...

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.We're finally, finally back with Gon and Killua for chunks of these episodes, but there's a ton of other business too. Of course, the King is playing Gungi (or Gungi is playing him?) Also, we start and easily conclude Morel's fight with Leol. Knov makes peace with his panic attack, and Poof has two of his own. Killua has made best friends with Ikalgo and Gon has made Mel...
Total Penelope: What’s New @ the Table
The best stuffed dog faces.I’ve pulled [asked] a few strings [Austin and Ali], and as a special holiday treat we’re releasing both parts of my, Jack and Ali’s first game set in our silly, spooky, sweet holiday game setting later known as Nievelmarch. Nievelmarch games have all been Patreon sclusies and/or livestreams, but this first one wherein we play Shooting the Moon might be my favourite. It’s a story about romance, rivalry, and toymakers, and I hope you’ll give it a listen. Part 1...

A blip on a blip: What’s New @ the Table
I could do some weird slingshot shit probably. Sunday’s podcast stream was Twilight Mirage 58: The Siege of the Lineage Brighton Pt. 2.For PARTIZAN/PALISADE-heads this is a great arc to see a little more Q-Concrete on screen, and for O.G. Mirage fans I’m not sure I need to say much more than this: Ballad Reverie. This might be a crocodile village.Last week Jack returned to Caves of Qudfor another daily challenge. Let’s be for real, it’s a super daunting game at first blush, but much like ...
