taofledermaus post Nickel Bronze Defender 12ga Round from patreon

Nickel Bronze Defender 12ga Round

Chris kept it simple on this one. A very basic cylindrical slug made out of nickel bronze which he uses to fabricate valve guides out of. VERY tough material capable of going through a Kevlar vest easily.

Ferro-Fury Slugs - Intense sparking

Michael from Idaho sent these modified Fury Custom Bullet slugs filled with ferrocerium which send showers of sparks when they impact almost everything.Hope you enjoy! Thanks for your support.

taofledermaus post Will this ballistic helmet protect the glass head? from patreon

Will this ballistic helmet protect the glass head?

I bought this glass head on ebay and filled it with ballistic gel to simulate a human head and what it would be like to get hit wearing a ballistic helmet - even if the helmet stops the bullet. The helmet (which is probably made in China but we don't know) actually did a pretty good job with common calibers. thanks everyone!

3-Fluted Russian Xtreme Penetrator 12 ga. slug - Very impressive

We finally test the 3 flute version of Alexey's solid brass slugs. I bumped up the velocity of these a tad to around 1650 fps. Thanks everyone! I hope you enjoy this.

"Alien Nipples" Strange but awesome 12ga Slug

Newest design by Evan from Texas. Not sure what his inspiration was with these, but I thought they looked like chess pieces but my friends said they looked like nipples. These were all shot from a rifled barrel, since I was certain they needed the spin. They actually did really well.Merry Christmas everyone, and happy holidays to that one guy.

Would it hurt getting shot while wearing a bullet-proof face mask?

We test out some bullet resistent face masks by Atomic Defense. It does a good job of stopping bullets, but would it still hurt you? thanks everyone for your support.

Dixie IXL DGS - The BEST 12 ga. slug - you can no longer buy

What an opportunity! We get a chance to test some pretty rare slugs that a viewer generously donated. I don't think there are even any videos of these Dixie slugs on Youtube. These are HARD CAST, 2 oz. dangerous game slugs. It's a shame these are not available for purchase anymore because I think many people would love to buy these.thanks everyone!

Tsar Bomba Slugs- 1050 grains - world's heaviest 12ga.

Nick Ross modified his Russian Paradox mold so these are solid lead weighing 2.4 oz. It took a bit of research to find a powder load for these things, but I seemed to get one that didn't blow up the gun or injure the shooter from recoil. We managed to get these over 1100 fps, just a little shy of Mach 1. No signs of overpressure so the Steel powder seemed to work very well for these monsters. thanks everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!

taofledermaus post 726 grain "12 ga. from hell" slugs -tested! from patreon

726 grain "12 ga. from hell" slugs -tested!

We test out Richard F's custom-made all copper slugs. Richard has been able to get these to 2000 fps using around 220 grains of powder. We don't have a shotgun with a 4" chamber and asking anyone to shoot more than one of those in a row would be cruel. The recoil is brutal. I loaded these with both 36 grains of Longshot and Steel powder and got an average of 1200 fps - supersonic. A 1.66 oz. slug at that speed is probably equal to the recoil of a 1oz slug at over 2000 fps. You'll...

Grimburg Round balls using Fed. Target shells

Danny returns! I decided to have him test a lightweight 12ga round. While people think "heavier is better" we argue the need for a light recoil shell (that doesn't really exist commercially) For these tests I just used Federal target loads for simplicity, and roll crimped them.

Denver's Tactik Drive slug through full-rifling... wow!

I had a handful of these slugs that Denver wanted me to test through full rifling, and wow, does time fly by. I finally got around to testing them after forgetting about them. I had some very oddball problems with this video in regards to YT reviewing it. It almost immediately was demonetized. I couldn't imagine WHY. I had them review it (I'm in that new program) and believe it or not, the demonetized it because it showed a FLASHLIGHT mounted to a gun. I thought the crazy reasons for dem...

What if Lehigh Defense made a 12ga Xtreme Penetrator?

Alexey from Russia apparently was impressed so much with the Xtreme Penetrators that he decided to machine his own and send us some for testing. For kicks I wanted to see how close I could get to the velocity of the 10mm version of 1500 fps, and got very close. Had a few minor hiccups with some of the wads, but there is no loading data for these at all. Maybe LD will see the potential of these and start producing them.

taofledermaus post Michael's UV Resin slugs have weird aerodynamics from patreon

Michael's UV Resin slugs have weird aerodynamics

This is definitely a testimonial to the strength of the 3D printing resin Michael used. I could not fit more powder into the 3" hull and still chamber them in Gregg's shotgun. We pushed these as hard as I could using rather fast burning powders (e3 and Titewad) and almost reached Mach 2. Around 2100 fps. We mostly used a full-rifled barrel to get these spinning but they had a side-effect of cork-screwing STRANGELY through the air.Be sure to watch the long-range tests near the end.

taofledermaus post Bullet Train - Disintegrating Sabot 3-ball round from patreon

Bullet Train - Disintegrating Sabot 3-ball round

Michael S. wanted us to test these rounds. They use a 3D printed sabot system that I believe are UV cured. From the beginning I was skeptical that the sabots would be strong enough to transfer energy to the lead balls without breaking up. The package is pretty long, 1.75", which required me to use the shortest gas seals I had (x12x) and even limited how much powder I could use-- and still fit everything into a 3" shell. (most of our shotguns have 3" chambers)Without a cushioned wad, ...

Grimburg HP68 (more or) Less Lethal Slugs - Excellent Performance

Grimburg Less Lethal HP68 are made for PAINTBALL guns to be shot between 300 and 400 FPS. We test them at over 1600 FPS. Sure they are "Less Less Lethal" at these velocities, but wow, would these work well for home defense. Many people think "more weight, more recoil the better". This is a round a tiny wife can easily handle. Breanna never rapid-fired a pump action in her life and the video shows just how effective these are with NO training. (she has shot a ton of rifles and han...

Homemade rifle-rated body armor - what can it stop?

A channel called "Tech this out Meow" contacted me a couple years ago to try this, but at that time things were looking grim for my channel so I wasn't sure if I would be able to do the project. He persisted and asked me again to try it. In that time he made improvements to the armor and now claims it will stop rifle round. Thanks everyone for your support.

I finally got everyone to sign this panel, which I think is the last one. This is open to everyone. If you are interested, just post a comment below. This increases the odds of winning as many don't sign up for these give aways. I'll randomly draw a name early in September. Will ship world-wide.Good luck and thank you for supporting the channel!

Monstrous 2 oz. subsonic slug - busts through lead plate

This is Evan's latest design. It is an elongated diabolo shape. I believed these still needed spin if they had a chance of flying straight, so we used a rifled choke. However, the dimensions of these prevented proper engagement with the rifling so they had no spin at all. But that really didn't stop these from working very well.

Evan's latest incarnation - Status of Patreon

At the end of this video I talk about why I started asking viewers for support (which I hated to ever do). I've been starting to see things improve and demonetized videos are becoming rarer. I never wanted to "double dip" by accepting goofy sponsorships over the last few years while having Patrons. Since things are improving on Youtube (ads and videos being suppressed by being dm'd) , it would also be wrong to continue to ask viewers for additional support. I just want to be hone...
