What We're Working On
🕑 Added 2022-08-10 00:41:23 +0000 UTCWHAT'S UP PATREON PEOPLE IT'S YO' BOY MOLDYNUTS69 COMIN' AT YA' WITH A NEW VIDEO!
I dunno why I decided that was gonna be the intro, but I did. Soz.
Anyway, just dropping in to let you know what we're doing this month.
Our first priority is to hopefully get 19x6 out the door. Due to struggles with our (my) pace in producing content, we have relaxed our insistence on following a specific order. However I would still really like to finish Tai's route as soon as I can, especially considering we're not far from the end, so this months work began with an attempt at 19x6 just to see how it would go with the idea being that if it went poorly, we'd do something else. It went well. It's a long way off being done yet, but what I have is charming as hell and lots of fun, so I'm completely intent to press on with this one as our first order of business.
It is my hope to issue this one scene as soon as it is finished, preferably around the middle of the month coinciding with the public release of 19x5 and the browser-based release. Regrettably, the source of my slower pace are still very much a work in progress and I expect will remain so for a bit yet, so it's hard to say how long it'll be before this new scene is ready, so despite my best intentions, release date is very much TBA - thanks in advance for your patience.
Where things get interesting is how we plan to spend the next of the month. We're aiming for an on-time September 2nd release date (with the last paragraph taken into consideration!), and the content in question will be the first release in a comprehensive rewrite/reimagining of the first five days of Sileo.
The upcoming release will include Day 1 which will be accessible in the Tales menu until the entire rewrite is finished in which it'll trade places with the original intro (which will remain playable as "legacy content" in the tales menu). Going forward, we'll be working on the remaining intro days alongside Tai's Route, and we plan to begin work on some other things in the coming months, with Eric's Tale as well as the Axel/Dom route being at the top of my list. With that said, worry not, Lukas fans! The big grumpy boy won't be far behind! It is just that there are still a few elements in Lukas' route that I don't feel 100% sure about and I'd like to take some more time to mull them over and make adjustments where necessary. In particular, one of the themes I fear that I am unqualified to make any sort of commentary on, but the theme is currently angled as a major component of the route and will take some work to replace as well as the right idea to replace it with in the first place. So please bear with on that one. In positive news, I feel completely prepared to tackle the Axel/Dom route and I'm honestly very excited to get stuck in as the first major arc of the plot is gonna be wild and a lot of fun! Y'all gonna love this.
Anyway, on the topic of the Day 1 Remake, it is being completely rewritten from the ground up with none of the original script kept intact. The new intro is expected to take creative liberties in service of the story as long as they can be worked into the existing routes. With that said, however, Day 1 itself doesn't change any established canon and instead is just heavily expanded with several additional sequences and a bunch of brand new artwork (in addition to the old artwork, all of which is still being used!). The planning for this is pretty much done save for any great ideas that might arise prior to or during the development process, so once 19x6 is wrapped up, we'll be able to jump straight in! The main reason we're doing this rewrite is due to how much I've improved as a writer since Sileo began. Honestly, the difference is black and white, at least to me. I know with absolute certainty I am reliably capable of producing an introduction sequence that is massively better than the existing one, and I also feel that my current output will age considerably better than my original content has which makes now an ideal time to do it. I feel that as is, the intro is a liability that fails to showcase how good Sileo can be when it hits its stride as it has for much of Tai's Route, so I want to make the intro every bit as good to get people hooked and keep them there!
Exciting things ahead, at any rate! We'll go more into detail about other forthcoming content when the time comes for us to get started, but for now, those two things make up our plans for the month and the next two Patreon releases. Can't wait for you all to check it out!
PS: I'm thinking of slipping a theme switcher in at some stage which will let you select past main-menu themes (Background Artwork + Music) should you wish. CurryCatz will be creating a drawn version of the hilltop background for replacing the stock photo and enabling us to use the original 0.1X era main menu theme, after which that in addition to the 0.2X/0.3X Tai's Route theme will be added as options (with the 0.4X 'Special Place' dynamic theme being the default).

Was certainly not expecting such a variety of big news, but I'm stoked! I've enjoyed your writing throughout the story, but you're definitely right when you say that you've really improved a ton since then. I'm excited to see what added flavor you bring back to the beginning of this wonderful story!
