Free Plans: The Greenwood Kiln

In our most recent video, Rob and I built a kiln out of stuff you can buy down at the Big Box store. It was a quick project and it's ready to receive our chair rungs (which we're finishing up tomorrow, I hope).
Everyone else pays for these detailed, full-color plans, but Patrons get them FREE. It's the least we can do for the community.
No, wait, we can do more. I'll have another set of free plans for you tomorrow. And those will be Patron exclusives; not available to the rest of the world at any price.
I don't think these are up on the plan archive yet, but they will be.

So Rex... I need your help and advise. I have a chance to get some of the 30ish diameter trunk of that Basswood. The guys removing the now 2 trees may be willing to cut it to manageable pieces and roll it to my workshop which is right across the street 😀. I would like to preserve at least one 12-16 inch piece for a rustic table similar to your outdoor log workbench. The rest is TBD. What do I use to keep it from cracking while it dries? How long to dry? Where to keep it... outside, inside, covered? I really would like your input as I'm really looking forward to this/ these projects.

Of course. I know we're hand tools here but this was an unconventional build so I'm happy to share my experience.

Not this week, lol. It's in the 90's in North Western Pennsylvania... but yes I think we qualify as the cold north.
