Frotcast 662: Bugonia, Venezuela, Dookie Wanna Take Ya... feat. Brent Flyberg
🕑 Added 2026-01-08 19:55:09 +0000 UTCWell it looks like our wish a few weeks back for things to suck less shit really blew up in our faces. Sorry about that, everyone. It turns out that the largest donor to the party that is actively obstructing the investigation into the Michael Jordan of pedophiles because our current president was best friends with said prolific pedophile owns a website that generates nudes of minors on demand. HEY GROK SHOW ME A TEN YEAR OLD’S GENITALS
To distract ourselves from the crackpot conspiracy-pilled eldritch horror of this current administration we watched Bugonia, a movie about a schlub who suffered an overdose of podcasts and youtube and is now convinced he’s the victim of a vast cosmic alien plot. We get into spoiler territory early on, so consider yourself warned. In the non-spoiler department, we all liked it. Jesse P Lemmons and Emma Stone are great as always, and former Pod Yourself guest Stavros Halkias is a delight.

Did I mention Producer Brent is here? Producer Brent is here. He watched Anaconda, and let me tell you, this man has takes on snakes. Solid B+.
Tony Dookiepill, who was hand-picked by Bari Weiss to read the news, reads the news like a person who was hand-picked by Bari Weiss to read the news. This man apparently has had two circumcisions as an adult? There has never been a better time in history to be an absolute freak.
Finally, we all watched the Chevy Chase documentary and then forgot to talk about it. Solid B+.
ICE executed a nonviolent citizen in the street yesterday. Fuck ICE. Sorry, we don’t have any jokes about that. If you are angry and able, please donate to Renee Good’s gofundme.
Wocka wocka!

The redacted word was smooching 💋

Metaphor stuff—I think it’s trying to link the culpability of everyone. My first thought was acupuncture, which isn’t like, criminally culpable, but yeah the big needles and the the tethered-ness, and the fact that she was still alive when I thought she was stone cold dead, I don’t know I saw in every shift of the narrative a placing of guilt on the other, which was so well balanced, it really kept me guessing until the end. Sorry I don’t usually comment on this stupid app I pay for and also fuck you.

You know what? Fuck you Big Brain Matt. Ooh I knew what was gonna happen the whole third act, it was boring. Ooh la di da Mr Frenchman. Actually you saying that is what made me watch it, and I’m not really versed in this Greek’s films, but damn I didn’t see it until she jumped out the ambulance and then I was like “really? REALLY? This is how we’re doing it?” Idk, pretty fucking amazing film, I kept trying to condemn it ideologically, and I thought I’d be able to do it right up until the final montage, and then I was just like damn, okay, respect.

I hated it too - or at least the ending - but loved The Favorite and Poor Things. I think Vince is dead on about Tony McNamara being Yorgo's best collaborator.

Real talk, feeling low as shit about the world this week and this episode was exactly the kind of thing I needed. Aside from [redacted] every ICE agent, of course.

I'm a little wary of bugonia because the only yorgos movie i have seen (the lobster) is a huge heap of trash

Can somebody remind me the episode where the "it's your problem" bit originated?

I haven’t seen bugonia but it sounds a bunch like save the green planet which was also good
