Study of an original by Sei Yamagata in Close Up Gendai Soukangou, circa 1999.Sei Yamagata doesn’t seem to have been a particularly prolific ero-artist, but he had a pleasingly chunky style with really nice use of spot blacks. I wasn’t able to find out much about his career otherwise; to look at his art, I would assume he was a professional, but going on the afterward page in his book Graduation, it sounds like he didn’t enjoy working on manga that much…

Some Notes on Colors [Felicia Pinup / Process Breakdown]

When I did my last attempt at explaining my working process, it was on a piece with fairly simple colors, so I thought it would probably be worth going through the colors in a little more detail on something more complex.Here, I’ve got my clean (ish) lineart and filled a layer underneath it with 30% grey as a base. Wew. The colors took a bit of work, but I’m pretty happy with this. It’s a bit overpowering unless you tweak the settings, but the ‘retro film’ filter in CSP puts a good warm highlight on one side of the canvas, so that saved me some time. I also regret a little bit not blocking out the background in Blender, but it’s been so long since I’ve tried that it never occurred to me until it was too late.There will be some spicier alts coming for this one on the higher tiers (making a lo...

Secret Plot - Mayumi [3 images]

Feels like I draw a Strapon alt for everyone. Just sayin’.But yeah, I wasn’t that happy with how the background text worked out. Unsurprisingly, I think the moral of the story is that if you’re gonna add something like that, it’s a lot easier if you plan for it from the start instead of trying to add it in as an afterthought.

Not a big update compared to the previous one, but I did want to see if I could get any more mileage out of the movement effect. Not sure how I feel about it overall, but it can be an alt for the original, if nothing else.
