Rio Royal Expansive Slug - Diecast Wonder Slug?
Gregg stopped by to help me film this weird and wacky slug by Rio
We test Evan's Injector Slug
Evan came through again with a really well-performing slug design that uses a .27 cal nailgun blank in the nose.
Brian's .27 Cal Hilti Slug
We're testing Brian's submission that uses the big .27 cal powder actuated round.
We test the new FT-12 Stabilizing Wad
I was asked to get some HS camera shots of the FT-12 wad to ensure it worked exactly atpromised without and failures.
Testing the Durahell slugs by Jay
This week we are featuring another design by a viewer named Jay. This talented machinist has made some of the most complicated slugs we have ever seen made with many individual parts. It's amazing they are strong enough to hold together. This was a difficult slug for me to load so I played it safe and came up with two different recipes just in case one didn't work. Just like the Rods from God, these are prototypes sent in just for testing and it is doubtful they will ever be for sale. Cl...
We test Ballistic Machinist's FAFO Slug
Today we test out 2 oz. steel slugs made by Ballistic Machinist. He asked us to test them out to help iron-out some minor issues he was having. Testing and performance went quite well. Check out Tim's channel: @BallisticMachinistThank you channel members and Patreon supporters
Evan Perry's "Bissell Blaster" slug
This week is if Evan's turn to have his slugs tested. This is made from a commutator from a vacuum cleaner!
Red Dragon 12ga. Slug - A beautifully effective round
Today we test out another slug, obviously created by a pro machinist but isn't necessarily an expert on creating supersonic projectiles. But it is apparent he has been paying attention of what slugs we've shot work well and applied that to this design.
Socket Rocket 12ga. Slugs
Brian created these wonderful slugs from Craftsman sockets. They are light but performed quite well.
Testing the CanaDart Sabot Flechette
These were actually really difficult to make work.
RODS from GOD - Possibly the best 12ga slug we've tested
Any machinist would appreciate the time and accuracy of Jay's work on these wild slugs. 8 rolls pins use a mechanical wedge to cause them to precisely spread out, turning them into high velocity flechettes. Thank you Clear Ballistics for the awesome targets. https://www.clearballistics.com/
The new INTERCEPTOR .380 - "Churro of Death"
Today we test out Ballistic Machinist's new defense round designed for the .380. Maximum expansion and minimum overpenetration for safety. In this test, we show how this complex bullet reliably expands with every fluid target we tried. This ensures it will function on everything from a fat guy to a guy on steroids, not just the fat guy.Ballistic Machinist's meat test: https://youtu.be/rSaiV47QEA0Ryder's Range functionality test: https://youtu.be/3IRLJQDjrvM
Shotgun Slug Made from Jet Engine Part - TESTED!
Today we have another imaginative projectile from Evan Perry. He machined some jet turbine blades into slugs. Made out of titanium, these are pretty light but very strong. These are loaded to obtain a speed of Mach 1.5. Evan's video making them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf7s6TZzPS4Gregg's channel: @OGsDangerShow
We test Evan's SONIC SURGE 12ga. slugs
Another design by Evan Perry. I think this is made out of a roller or some sort.
Mini 12ga. Double Barrel - early familiarization tests
We are trying to get familiar with this crazy shotgun pistol. Can you shoot both barrels at once? Yes, but it is very unpleasant to shoot 2 oz. of lead at the same time.
Brian's FISHEYE Shotgun Slugs - Awesome performance
Today we test out another design by Brian of Nor-Cal. Made from a stack of washers carefully centered in a resin jacket, these show fine workmanship and consistency between each slug.
Using a nitro card to save space, powder, and money
This is a test to determine if a really cheap nitro card will solve several issues with the new Goodell tailwads.
Evan's "Revolver" shotgun slug
These are just plain wicked, nasty rounds.
Battle of the Beasts! Factory Rounds vs Cinder Blocks
We test out 8 different factory-loaded rounds against fortified cinder blocks. These are rounds I just happened to have on hand and thought would be interesting contenders.
The ROOK 12ga. slug by Ballistic Machinist
Thanks for allowing us to buy the ballistic head! Let me know if it was a good investment or not!
We Test the WEIRD Whirlybird Shotgun Round
Today we test out an experimental round that is designed to expand before it hits the target. It's a weird concept that is a low-recoil, high velocity and high concentration round.
Supersonic Bean Bag Round Study
A viewer request!
Tenderizer test through full rifling
Tim asked me to test some of tenderizers through a smooth bore and rifled barrel and film them with the HS camera. This is the results.
KYLON APDS 12ga. Kinetic Penetrator - Impressive Results!
An anonymous viewer created these diabolical diabolo-shaped 12ga. rounds using nylon and a tungsten core. These functioned quite well from a smooth bore. In order for the core to function correctly, they much fly perfectly straight through the air. Looking for a gift idea this Christmas? A Taofledermaus shirt might just be the perfect fit! https://taofledermaus-store.creator-spring.com/
Spot Welder Tip Shotgun Slug
Brian created some interesting projectiles using resin and spot welder tips. The challenge for me is often just getting the load recipe correct for them to function well.
TURBO SLUG - Sounds like Star Wars Blaster
Thank you Patreon Supporters!Today we test out one of the weirdest slugs we've ever seen, the Turbo Slug. It's an awkward shape to try to properly use in a 12 ga. and I could have easily prepared these wrong, but this time I did get it right. I think the accuracy problems were due to something I call "paddle-wheeling" where the vanes cause the projectile to deviate off course.
