Defamed - Blackblood

Absolutely LOVE all the blackened deathcore has been coming out lately and this is no exception! Big big Emperor vibes. Blackblood is the current leader in EPs this year, let's see if it gets beat! Favorite song is The Swarm.

This was a super fun listen!!! Thall hardcore is a pretty novel fusion and it's always great to hear anything Calle and Buster work on. Good stuff

Album Reaction | Gideon - More Power. More Pain.

This was my first time listening to Gideon and ngl I'm impressed. Super bouncy grooves and a nice amount of diversity. I will say that I got fatigued towards the end since the songs are all very rhythm focused and that made them start to blend together, but each individual song was executed well. Having them all in a row definitely made it tough since it felt like listening to one 40 minute song.

Album Reaction | Suicide Silence - Remember... You Must Die

A ton of death metal influence in this one. A few bangers throughout, but it definitely got fatiguing to listen to all of these tracks back to back. Favorite track is The Third Death

Album Reaction | Entheos - Time Will Take Us All

Went into this one without hearing any of the singles and I'm thoroughly impressed. This is a dense album for only having 9 songs, as it contains a range of sounds and influences. I love love love when each song on an album offers something different from the rest, and this one did that. A fantastic release!

Album Reaction | Viscera - Carcinogenesis

Another solid album from Viscera. Pretty heavy with strong choruses and some blackened twists. However, each song struggles to distinguish itself from the rest, making a whole album listen fatiguing.

Never got into In Flames before, and I'm glad I checked this one out. A super fun listen that consistently delivers. Favorite track is State Of Slow Decay

Album Reaction | Counterparts - A Eulogy For Those Still Here

This was executed super well, but unfortunately it just hasn't clicked with me. Everything is there, but it's just not what I look for in an album. To each there own. However, Unwavering Vow hits hard af. Unsure why that one clicked above the others.

Album Reaction | Fit For A King - The Hell We Create

WOW I really slept on this band. I've known about them for a while but never bothered to check them out since I'm not really a metalcore guy. Lemme tell ya, I regret not listening sooner. A super versatile album that delivers some crushingly heavy sections, like in Reaper or Eyes Roll Back (my favorite track). Great stuff!

This isn't a genre I normally explore, but I was super surprised by the raw emotion you can feel behind each song. Extremely moving, and especially deep lyrics. It takes a lot to share the type of grief that Rory felt about the passing of his father with others. Favorite track is either Dreamstate or Afterglow (Hazel's Song)

Album Reaction | Bad Omens - The Death Of Peace Of Mind

Slept on this when it came out since metalcore isn't normally my scene, but kept hearing good things about it. Totally surprised by the variety demonstrated on this release, and I'm curious how they'll develop their sound further. Favorite song is Artificial Suicide

EP Reaction: Abbie Falls - Hell Is Other People

These guys are one of the first bands I ever reacted to and its great to see where they are now! Really strong release with a lot of diversity between the tracks.

Album Reaction | Chelsea Grin - Suffer In Hell

The amount of sheer creativity in this was absolutely inspiring. Love this album, and I'm excited for the second half in March! It's insane to think that both Tom Barber and Baby J will have 2 albums each in the top 10 albums of 2022 list. Favorite track is Flood Lungs!

Album Reaction | Slipknot - The End, So Far

Honestly this is a very mixed album. I enjoy the concept of the genre blend they used here, but the execution really varies from song to song. Overall I'd give this a 6/10, and label it as the worst slipknot album. This doesn't mean that it's bad or all songs are a 6, but rather that there's a great deal of variability from song to song. Favorite track is Hive Mind!

I've been a fan of Behemoth for years and this is another great addition to their discography! My favorite track is The Deathless Sun.

FINALLY SOMEONE PUT A SPIN ON TECHNICAL DEATH METAL!!! This was such an awesome album to listen to, and honestly the best tech death I've heard yet! Looking forwards to hearing more from them. Favorite song is Radiant Ascension!

Album Reaction | Parkway Drive - Darker Still

This album was strange for me because it used an older sound that I haven't been into for a while, but done in such a perfect way that it had an extremely nostalgic feeling to it. Super emotive and well executed! Favorite track is Soul Bleach!
