The Amber Temple 2.0 (54x60, 200px)
🕑 Added 2021-12-11 18:30:46 +0000 UTCI tried to put in as much detail as possible into this one, to the point that I actually had to draw some of the assets you see here myself, and spent a lot of time in Photoshop cobbling together others from various parts of Forgotten Adventures assets - I'm particularly proud of the treasury, which features almost every object listed in the module. I also included tokens for the illusory feast, so you can simply hide or remove the token once the spell is broken, as well as a token for some skulls that might spill out of the room next to Exethanter's quarters, if you'd like to represent that in your game.
I wanted to convey a sense that the Amber Temple wasn't built by conventional means, which is why the walls are solid stone, and the floors are smooth marble, no tiles - I think it helps the place seem a little more alien. That and the marble coating on all of the walls (it does infringe upon the space a little, but if I had tried to it more precisely, it could have taken another week just for that).
Unfortunately, the UVTT files, and the PNG for the upper floor are pretty large - I tried to figure out ways around this, but the best case scenario would only save a few MB here or there at the cost of a lot more work, so offering them as they are was ultimately the better solution.
I really hope you like it - I'm pretty happy with this one!
My maps are made with assets from Forgotten Adventures, AoA, Tom Cartos' assets, and they come with grid/gridless, day/night, and a variety of formats - I'm working on making these formats consistent, but once I'm done, they'll be available as JPGs for each level, PNGs for levels above ground (for use as tiles in Virtual Table Tops), and UVTT files of the ground level and each level above for Foundry VTT.

Thank you! I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to come up with a good solution for the amber walls the first time I mapped the temple - I just had to make some minor adjustments to the old method to make it work with these assets, so it was much less frustrating this time around!

Really well done!! I especially love the amber coated walls. I tried to do this with a light effect but I think your map sells it more. Great work!

Thank you so much for signing up, Mario - I really appreciate it! It's also nice to hear from another map-maker - if you've got anywhere you share your maps, feel free to send a link my way so I can check them out! :) I do like the idea of taking that a step further and having something like a double-sided token in Foundry for doors so you can toggle between open and closed states, but that would probably mean exporting more map variants, unfortunately. If I knew for sure every single person who uses my maps was on Foundry, I'd probably do it that way, but since I don't, it's probably safer to just follow the area descriptions!

Just become one of your patreon because I myself have made a few CoS maps and tokens and I know the amount of time it consumes. The level of greatness and detail you are achieving is simply amazing. Really like your new maps and your new style. P.S. The only drawback I could say about Amber Temple map is that I personally prefer all doors being closed and open directly in Foundry. Excellent map though.
