For me I apply Occam's Razor to things like this, and if Devlin is capable of being an asshole to one human being and a liar, he is probably always going to be that way in some form or fashion. The question is what DnD said, how big of an asshole will he be to Kimmy. And we have evidence in the present moment of his assholeness (new word), we already know hes messing with Kimmy's head in this scene, its turning Kimmy on but he knows hes causing her emotional pain too. No question hes being an asshole to Kimmy right now. And we know he lied to her about the texts. To me, I agree with DnD he just does this stuff to people no matter who.

you could be right DND, and no doubt he is fucking with her a little as he has to manipulate her in order to maximize Josh’s discomfort. That being said, I personally don’t think he is fucking with Kimmy in the same sense he is fucking with a Josh.. for instance at the end of this I think he would be happy to see Josh miserable, but I don’t think he necessarily wants Kimmy to be miserable at the end. This gets back to our topic last chapter about Devlin being an asshole or a sociopath, and I don’t really see him as either.. Sure he is a dick specifically to Josh, but I know lots of people who are assholes to one specific person (including two of my brothers towards each other), but I would classify them as assholes in general.. you bringing up the psychobabble in the restaurant made me go read that chapter again. The key part to that chapter, to me, is right before the psychobable where KT writes as the narrator, ““ looking around the lounge, his expression tickled-like he’d realized her barrier to sleeping with him was some lie her husband had told her about him, and it was made of cardboard.” If Devlin really did send those texts to Josh, then the narration here doesn’t make any sense to me, because Devlin would realize his actions are the barrier not some “lie”. Therefore, the psychobable, is to explain why Josh came up with the lie. Devlin admits most of the psychobable is nonsense after Kimmy calls it just that. However the observation Devlin makes at the end of the psychobable in regards to how Devlin’s bullying has effected Josh’s mind is an astute one. As for the AA stuff, this is the type of stuff I think Devlin could be bringing up to amplify Kimmy’s pleasure. Not sure if you read the “Safe Words” book but I’m starting wonder if we the readers here haven’t stumped into a BDSM sex scenario like Angel does in that book.. What looks like degrading and humiliating acts on the surface, might not be so once the secrets are revealed by the participants. It’s noted in the psychobable chapter that Devlin first brought the AA stuff up to both Amy and Kimmy at the reunion. While I imagine the first time Devlin does this is to no doubt mess with Kimmy, I can see a world where Devlin bringing this up was the catalyst for the fight they got into at the reunion. From there, I can see Devlin making the connection that despite Kimmy getting outwardly upset at the AA stuff, she also gets inwardly turned on by it so Devlin continues to bring it up.

I think Devlin's fucking with both Kimmy and Josh. Remember the psychobabble in the restaurant? His bringing up AA, if Kimmy's thought process wasn't so addled, should have thrown up a huge redflag that perhaps Josh was right. But you are right that Devlin thinks Kimmy could do better. Now, she gets the chance. We'll see how this progresses from here. Because this is getting darker by the sentence, I truly think it's going to develop into either LHW or a full-blown, cream-pie slobbering, cuckold story--maybe both.

RCH

Not the normal rash of comments. While it was a very hot scene not to much to debate! Kimmy is getting what she wanted!

Thanks James.. To your point about Devlin fucking with people... I’m still up in the air on if Devlin fucks with people in general or if he only fucks with Josh specifically. This was the point I was trying to make... Going back to Devlin talking about Josh negatively while he is with Kimmy, the straightforward way to read that is Devlin is doing that as some sort of game to mess with Kimmy’s head and for power dynamics etc. I’m curious though if an alternative explanation exists where Devlin is bringing Josh up not to fuck with Kimmy at all, but rather to provide her pleasure (like he wouldn’t do it if she didn’t respond positively to it). I think it’s abundantly clear Devlin wants to ruin Josh’s life, but does he necessarily want to ruin Kimmy’s as well? I’m not suggesting Devlin wants to end up with Kimmy in a long term relationship, but rather he could be sincere in his assessment that Kimmy could do better.

I'm "Wouldnt Kimmy look great with a baby bump?" mode. *In my best mother voice* I know, I'm such a typical parent, I see Kimmy hitting it off with another guy and i start thinking children ...

JamesIsAsleep

Chinook - to your question, I think it's possible that NRE momentum might get into Kimmy's head such that she will buy into some of the lies Devlin spouts at first which will translate to thinking and probably saying harsh things to Josh, but his obsession with fucking with other people rather than being a human being will start to become grating. Or not, maybe Kimmy learns to love being at the top of the totem pole and berating those underneath her boot.

Chinookfan72

unless KT is sitting on a big revelation in regards to what has caused Devlin to treat Josh this way (and I imagine that isn’t very likely), then one has to assume at this point it’s a lot of #2.. One thing though on Devlin talking about Josh with Kimmy.. Is it possible Devlin realizes Kimmy, despite what she says, actually gets off on Devlin’s taunts? Could he be bringing Josh up now, not for his benefit, but as a way to maximize Kimmy’s pleasure.. There are some BDSM lines in this story so I wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibility.

DavidnDaria

We've flipped on this... and flipped... and flipped... I'm BTB mode, Daria is in cuck him mode. Other modes we've been in... 'How in hell can Kimmy do this' mode.... "WTF is Josh thinking mode'.... and others.

RCH

Well done! Almost done just need to add the cream filling! I can see why our inquiries into Kimmy and Josh's virginity status went unanswered it is part of the plot. Sneaky, KT very sneaky!

Glaucon

The taunting is excellent by the way.

DavidnDaria

Josh asks, "Gee Kimmy, where are the stockings you wore when you left for work? Oh, and new shoes, too? Meeting must've run really long, eh? Just where was the meeting, anyhow?" Yeah, all my questions.. but one thing: Don't know if the stockings are laddered. Kimmy had Devlin take them off. I hope they are laddered, though. Kimmy didn't wear panties, did she? Maybe she's got a bug-out kit somewhere? She probably should have one because one-and-done looks more remote with each word in this chapter. Maybe Kimmy quits working for Devlin out of guilt? :) Yeah, right.

CSH

I counted seven orgasms for Kimmy in that scene and Devlin hasn’t got his yet. A different woman will leave that room than entered it. How long till she’s the one calling Josh double A?

Wess

Yup. My favorite aspect of the story is Kimmy's duplicity and Devlin's coaxing her to accept the humiliation of Josh. She's already let the double A reference slide. I would love to see her tacitly start to accept more of Devlin's degradation of Josh.

Glaucon

This chapter is all gold. It's pretty clear that Devlin does enjoy specifically taking Kimmy from Josh over and above just having Kimmy per se. Also the clear narrative connection established for Devlin to essentially addict Kimmy to sex with him, and implicitly draw unfavourable comparisons to Josh. I love that line "defend him" while Devlin's fucking her, drawing out orgasm after orgasm, the humiliation of it for both Kimmy and Josh. And there's sure to be even more of that in the future. I wonder how mean this series will get? I think that it's somehow meaner/more humiliating when Kimmy doesn't want to humiliate Josh, but it's just the situation and dynamics that inherently humiliate him, or it's coming from Devlin and Kimmy's new loyalty to big dick prevents her from truly being on Josh's side.

Glaucon

I think that deep down there's a lot of option 2 that causes a person to want to be seen as option 1

Donkatsu

Since Josh is going to snoop and spy on Kimmy's return, we need to catalogue the various potential points of failure in her story to Josh before KT tells us and makes us feel stoopid. New shoes, missing hair sticks, laddered stockings, a full load of cream in the panties now under her front seat; if Josh is still there maybe he sees her leave w/o the stockings on. Gotta be more but it's late, I have to go work on getting my NO values up to a protective level.

JamesIsAsleep

I will continue to say this, especially because it feels like we arent given such a clear picture of what the female characters are feeling in these moments, we usually have to extrapolate with little nuggets of tidbits over the course of the story (pros and cons to that as a reader, to be sure) ... I love how much Kimmy is getting into this and how clear her thoughts are during this. Obviously I like the contents of those thoughts too, she has her mind's eye on the type of coupling with Devlin I am hoping for, too. In time! I'm not sure I understand Devlin, I'm often caught between two extremes of "hes too much of a bad ass to be concerned about Josh," and "hes so insecure about himself that he is spending time talking about and thinking about Josh right now when no one is even talking about him."
