What if it's Karina, who was turned to the Dark Side by Devlin after HS and she is the one sending the messages? I know, this doesn't fit with the lunch Kimmy and Karina had early on but KT can figure out how to smooth this out. Also imagine the birthing suite, with Josh barely keeping it together while Amy takes charge: baby boy emerging and Amy says “wow, look at the size of those hands,” and a moment later the midwife exclaims “holy shit!” as the boy’s abdomen emerges.

Well, I expect things between Kimmy and Devlin are going to escalate exponentially (How far? I've shared some ideas in the past and I still think them likely, especially Kimmy getting knocked up by Devlin). The narrative wildcard element in my estimation appears to be this possibility that at least some texts were getting to Josh from a source other than Devlin. I agree with others that, on the face of it, it would seem unlikely based on the facts that we know. What makes the most sense is that the texts were from Devlin. It fits everything we know about him and the situation. However, purely based on the way that it was written, the passage reads to me like the author intends for us to seriously consider that someone else sent them. Which, well, I'm not sure what the narrative purpose of that would be for the reader if it wasn't true? That's kind of using the form of the narrative to draw conclusions/begging the question, but it's just the feeling I get.

Yeah, I’m of the opinion that Josh needs it to just be a fantasy. Even admitting that is a huge step but makes it safer and allows him to indulge the dark side of his fantasy. Having it be real is way to much for him. In my opinion the day it’s undeniably real to him is the day the marriage (and the story) ends.

The geography is easy to visualize Kingston is at the Eastern end of the North shore of Lake Ontario, Hamilton is at the far Western end in the middle between North and South shores. Toronto is about 7/8th to the Western end of the lake. Ajax is about 3/4th to the Western end of the Lake. 401 highway runs through Ajax and close to Kingston and runs a bit to the North of Toronto. Will have to the Ontario government to name it: "The Kimmy Waters Booty Call Highway". Do a quick Google Maps check to get a feel of the area. I did earlier this year helped to create a vision of the area.

for sure Donkatsu, there are multiple ways it could work. CSH, tongue in cheek noted, my argument back is what Devlin has told Josh isn’t proof, proof would be pictures, videos, being in the room etc. The premise is he knows everything, right now Josh doesn’t know anything, all he has are assumptions. Also Kimmy can’t be the one telling him everything because at the same time she thinks it’s a secret affair. It could be someone else, but there is no way someone else will know everything.

I think that was the most consequential chapter thus far. Josh let his kink slip out for the first time to Kimmy, and Kimmy got the first hint that if she plays things right, she may be able to get all she wants...mind blowing sex with Devlin but in a way where she actually solidifies her relationship with Josh. Now that will not be easy, because I still think for Josh the excitement is in the unknowns...in the idea that Kimmy MIGHT be cheating on him with Devlin. I don’t think he would like the reality. So we’ll see if Kimmy can play that game without confirming anything. That will not be easy, and there’s still Devlin and his game...what does he tell Josh. But after this chapter, I’m maybe back to the idea that Josh never really finds out for certain, and that Kimmy continues to be with Devlin and uses those real experiences to fuel the “fantasy” for Josh and continue to ramp up their own sex life.

Well, let us not forget the tent! Devlin told Josh he had ask Devlin to fuck Kimmy! Was it true? Don't know but our boy is starting to question himself on that point. I see a good opportunity coming up for Devlin to tell Kimmy about it. She may find it believable after Josh's request for dirty talk. I could see it as a card Devlin could play if Kimmy is reluctant next time. I would imagine Devlin will try to have another rendezvous soon to keep her interest.

Glaucon: lawyers are born not made, IMHO. Married to one (Big Law, Maggie and Keeley's alma mater) for many years. As children the future lawyers were able to convince their parents that the broken glass on the floor should be attributed to the next door neighbor/little brother/boogey man/etc. They also were able to effectively extort their sibs for favours after discovering minor transgressions without the parents ever knowing about the plea bargaining. Law school was just the official recognition of this innate talent. So you are correct in noting that the absence of courses on rhetoric or argumentation detracts little from the final product of that legal education. Good point. I don’t know the geography so hadn't really considered that part. Generally bosses and employees have social events occasionally. I just don’t see Josh having any contact unless Devlin initiates it somehow through Kimmy, who he increasingly will influence.

It does not have to be cooperative or voluntary on Josh’s part. In keeping with the HS power relationship, Devlin can threaten Josh and taunt him with exposure to Kimmy. Josh can pretend with Kimmy that she is just trash talking. Devlin extends his grip on the two, Kimmy gets to play and taunt Josh with recountings that are largely true, and Josh gets to pretend he is not abused by both of them. Until Josh takes affirmative steps to realign the balances of power with both Kimmy and Devlin he will live in a state of tormented, angst-filled arousal.

I want Devlin to interact with Josh because the premise of the story we voted on was Josh was going to know the whole time while Kimmy thinks it’s an affair.. the only person that can do that is Devlin. Also if this story gets darker it’ll be more enjoyable for me if Josh knows what’s going on and still allows it to happen. I agree If Devlin starts taunting again it will cause suspicion. Thus I can only see it working if Josh and Devlin come to an agreement that Devlin will loop him in, but he can’t tell Kimmy he knows.. One scenario would be, after Josh processes this encounter he finally admits he wants Kimmy to cheat, but is too embarrassed to admit it to Kimmy so he reaches out to Devlin to seduce her and give him details.

I think I get why you would say that, but I can see a scenario where Devlin continues texting Josh. I could see the combination of Devlin's taunting and Kimmy's teasing maybe leading to a moment of real suspicion.

yeah I don’t think texting out of the blue makes sense either, my thinking is Josh is going to get so knotted up in trying to prove Kimmy is doing it he’ll reach out to Devlin and make a deal out of desperation. Or a scenario where Devlin confronts Josh about telling Kimmy about the prior messages and they come to some kind of agreement for it to continue without Kimmy being aware. I can’t see Kimmy and Josh socially interacting with Devlin. I’d find it hard to believe Josh would ever accept an apology from Devlin in the first place.. Secondly what would they do? Devlin lives in Kingston which is 2 hours north, so I doubt Josh would ever drive 4 hours round trip to hang out with Devlin on a weekend, and I doubt he’d want to go to his local hangout spots in fear of running into someone he knows. The only remaining option would be meeting in Toronto, but how often does Devlin even come to Toronto? That’s like a 6 hour round trip for him.. That seems like a really long way to travel just to fuck with Josh for a couple hours and not have sex with Kimmy.

Notice he didn’t get to have sex with her? He didn’t make it in last time either. This time it was twice, outside. Might be a while till little Josh makes love to his wife if she keeps grabbing hold and talking to him to get him off. Josh is in real trouble here. Honestly, there may not be a limit to what he’ll believe from her now. She’s gonna take all the trust he has to lend her and demand more. I imagine Devlin is going to love it when Kimmy tells him what just happened. “Rubbed his face in it, squirted your semen into his mouth” This will then rev Kimmy’s engine up big time and make her want to get away with even more. I don’t see the texting as viable. But I definitely think there’s eventually a path where Devlin starts to interact with them as a couple on a seemingly platonic social level. After a certain point, with her working for him this would be almost inevitable. Maybe Devlin could trigger it by superficially apologizing for being such an ass in high school. The social interaction would give all three a secret thrill for their own individual reasons. It would have to come later down the line but would ramp the tension up mightily. Maybe what Devlin wants is not Kimmy but the Waters as a couple.

Looking forward to how KT uses this new wrinkle of Josh wanting Kimmy to talk about Devlin.. I’d imagine it isn’t a one time thing so it does provide Kimmy a way to “admit” what she is doing without actually coming clean. More importantly to me though, I see it as a vessel for her to up the humiliation as she gets in deeper with Devlin and it can help Josh accept that something between Kimmy and Devlin might happen. I think the story would get real repetitive if after every time Kimmy and Devlin get together we get a replay of these last couple chapters. Not saying I don’t want Kimmy and Josh scenes like this chapter, it’s more avoiding the prior two chapters with a Kimmy feeling guilty and Josh being mad (and hopefully not after every time a Kimmy and a Devlin hook up. I do hope we get to a scenario where Kimmy and Josh are intimate less because her and Devlin are getting together so frequently.) My one concern is that this new wrinkle in Kimmy and Josh’s sex life might eliminate the need for Devlin to interact with Josh. Personally I want more Devlin and Josh interactions, I really liked the idea of Devlin keeping Josh up to speed on the happenings (through humiliation and bullying of course).
