My own guess is the next chapter we flash back to the end of Kimmy/Devlin's apartment romp where most of this was planned out, and how Kimmy should react to Josh finding her panties. I agree Devlin is hard to read, I'm actually starting to believe he's not trying to ruin Josh. But like Kimmy, he's most interested in moving Josh around like a pawn on a chessboard to get what he wants without consequences. I will be interested to see where it goes. I find this chapter really interesting, when you combine it with some of Kimmy's thoughts from prior chapters in regards to Hyun. At the time of reading those, i thought it made sense with her character (selfish, devilish, borderline evil) to manipulate Hyun, it just seemed very rushed that she would make such an abrupt decision about dragging her (Hyun) into this mess, obviously for selfish benefit. After seeing this happen earlier in the day, her self awareness that she's created a mess makes a lot more sense and why using Hyun as leverage against Josh would also be an appealing path for her. It's an act of desperation based on her acknowledgement that she feels that if Josh learns the full scope of what she's done, he's going to leave her. Plus, she gets off, big time, on manipulation and being in control. I've kind of always felt that from the 4th book on, things basically became irretrievably broken for Kimmy as she let her selfish nature override any good sense she might have and simply kept doing whatever felt good, regardless of how bad it might be or the resulting consequences. I still don't quite grasp Devlin's intentions or plans. There's what he says, and then theirs what he actually wants, which is hidden from us. I *think* i know where he plans to head, but it's hard to say, because he seems to be just as good at lying and manipulation as Kimmy, probably even better, because he seems to be slowly wrapping Kimmy around his finger
