“You didn’t have to watch.”

“Into the bed? You were all in bed together?”
“We were wearing clothes, Byron.”
“But Scarlet wasn’t.”
“That’s Scarlet. We’re not talking about her. Listen to what I’m telling you... I needed comfort because I felt like giving you to Carla had been a big, big mistake. But then I realized thinking that way was a weakness. A weakness in my character; some weak part of me yelling out for all the attention. . . . “No. I wouldn’t say that. That would be me trying to blame everything on you. And besides, what’s there to blame? Everything is working out.”
“You think it’s working out?”
He couldn’t read if she was serious or comical or angry. He said, “Isn’t it?”
She nodded. “Anyway, that big loud part of me was pretty mean to you, and last night I tried getting in touch with whatever it is you’ve got. Whatever it is inside you that makes you so...” Her eyes rolled up.

“Kind of, I guess,” she said. Sully rubbed his eyes, trying to rouse himself.
“But it was me in your bed,” Cody said.
“So?”
Cody shrugged, waving bye to them with a lazy waist-high salute, heading to the door. “I hope she takes it well.”
She lifted her head from the pillow. “You think she’ll be mad?”
Cody shrugged again, standing with a hand on the door lever, enjoying not telling her for sure, his face amused in a way that said he thought Paloma would be real mad.
“She oughtta be mad at you if she wants to be mad about it,” she said and let her head thump back down. Sully was up on one elbow at her side now.
“I hope it works out that way for you, Scar,” he said, winking. “See you guys later.” Then he was gone.
She looked at Sully looming over her now, the sleepiness wiped from his face, replaced with a look of lusty desire. She said, “What do you think’s gonna happen here?”
He snatched the sheets away, revealing her naked and she yelped and laughed, bringing her knees tight together as Sully tried to climb on top of her. Not sure how gifted that analysis is. I'm wrong most of the time! But that's a good thing, imo, since it means the story is rarely predictable and each character is a unique individual who views the world differently than I do. I still feel a bit gutted for Chey, because regardless of me being one of her biggest detractors, I wanted her to get here with less pain. Though maybe the pain was required for understanding? We'll see where "here" leads them. Hopefully somewhere good where they both get enjoyment and the jealousy monster doesn't cripple them, especially Chey.

Thank you for responding! With the least chapter of Summer Swap 5 I could see that Byron could fall in love with Carla and the other way around. Their interactions are so differant than Chey and Byron. Lets just how their journy goes. Will they stay together or swap partners :P

KT, you are so gifted with dialogue like this. It's truly amazing how artful you can make these discussions with the things that are said, and all the language between the lines that's there, but left unsaid. I find it interesting that after her discussion with Cody, the place Chey got to is she needed to put herself in Byron's shoes and force herself to watch them. She thought their relationship needed the sexual balance of Byron being with Carla so she set that up, but found out along the way that it's more than that. They also need the emotional balance that has her being as magnanimous (such a wonderful word) as Byron, and happily being so, instead of begrudgingly so, with all those awful, selfish thoughts of wanting to wreck things for Byron. Thoughts that make her feel unworthy of Byron. I also find it humorous that she doesn't realize Byron sometimes has similar thoughts, he just manages them much better. Even here, he thinks she's decided she wants to worship Cody. What's funny is that she doesn't know that, and Byron doesn't realize that she spent most of last night worrying something very similar. That Byron would fall in love with Carla and want to worship the big titted sexual goddess that is Carla. Oh, and Scarlet, you need to be worshipping Sully, not the other way around. He just gave you, back to back, the two most amazing sexual experiences of your life.
