Contextually it means... Take that!

Bill F Protagoras

Though, unlike the prevalent opinion, I don't see Kimmy as a wicked step queen... I do see Hyun as a mirror to her reflections... a mirror that, if Kimmy examines her closely, whispers back "you may be hot, but you are far from being the fairest..." Hyun may be infatuated but "she" still has a cultural repository that is almost as judgy as some readers (in England that's known as understatement). In Spain we just say, "Toma"!

Kat

I loved the “scraping him off your shoe” part. It was my favourite part of the book. Maggie needed that said to her. I was time for her to take some responsibility for her role in the relationship. IMO, Maggie and Cole tended to blame everything on Max. Maggie took a lot of liberties in her relationship with Max, that she didn’t dare do with Cole. I love the Keely character. She’s fierce.

Funny you mention that scene of Keely telling Maggie off. It's probably my favorite scene KT has ever written. One of the top reasons Keely is my favorite series, even if its been relegated to 2 books for a while now. Its funny because Keely, due to her ignorance, doesn't even realize she's wrong in a number of her assertions, YET, said *exactly* what a horribly selfish Maggie needed to hear so she'd pull her head out of her ass and do the right thing. Because, let's face it, Maggie engineered that whole scenario the way that she did in hopes that Max would fall for Keely and ask to be let go so he gets to be the bad guy for leaving, she doesn't have to be the bitch "scraping him off her shoe". Which wasn't really what she was doing, because she wanted to be able to keep some sort of relationship with him instead of risking Max completely shutting her out when she said she's moving on with Cole. (Ironic since that's kind of what he did after they had their discussion) So, basically all her machinations were out of selfish greed. She comes around, somewhat, in book 2. Still selfish, but more self aware of it, and tries to do things, like with the photo, or leaving them alone during the threesome, to make amends. Kimmy... she's very self aware... she just doesn't give a shit in the moment. And her guilt before or after is never enough to eclipse her lust for any sort of heinous debauchery that would humiliate Josh or make her feel wicked and sinful.

Kat

Yeah, I agree about Maggie, but I don’t like her. She hurt Max stringing him along, because of her selfishness. Max isn’t blameless, but Maggie was unkind to him. She and Cole did stuff behind his back, too. I think the person, in the story, I dislike the most, is Cole. He is such an opportunist, and appears (to me) not to have two brains to rub together. Kimmy is in a different world than Maggie. She’s just being evil because she’s realizes how much she loves it. I find it hard to believe that she really thinks doing all of this is going to to bring peace to Josh’s world. I know you said the “bad girl doesn't always get their just desserts,” and you’re right, but I SO want Kimmy to get hers. After all of this, a part of me still hopes there is a small form of regret or guilt in her. I can’t help it. With all Maggie did, she did show some sadness in Learning Keely. I enjoyed the scene where Keely told her off. Lol I don’t think there’s one ounce of regret in Kimmy. She just seems to be reveling in her sinfulness.

Thats going to be the book all hell breaks loose! (LOL!)

One more book

Andrew Mellein

Yes, I could see KT showing us a flashback at what really happened at the reunion from Kimmy and Devlins perspective as well as drunk Josh! How many more chapters in this book? Is there one more book after this? I can’t wait 😝

Tracey52

Where does the story go from here? I think there comes a reveal or point soon when Josh finds out the truth and perhaps we do as well about the texts and what happened at the party. I think then there will be a jump forward in time until at least after the baby is born. We will then see how the situation was resolved. Leaves open many possibilities.

Andrew Mellein

I truly believe that Kimmy is suffering psychological/mental problems at this point! Remember she was grieving her lost child with Josh! I wonder if she started acting bad due to this loss. At this aspect I feel bad for her and think she needs counseling and help. But then I remember the past ten books of her adulterous cheating, and gaslighting on Josh. And now Hyun. And I want her to pay for what she did. I don’t like to “burn the bitch” in books but at this point Kinmy kinda deserves it🤣🤣🤣

L_S87

I give Maggie a lot of slack because she got caught up in exploring. Yeah, what she did with Jay was awful, but most everything after that was circumstantial, mostly with Maggie being horribly selfish rather than any intent to enjoy being horirble to Max. Hell, even the moment where Max takes the ring, she was just being selfishly oblivious, not mean or evil. Mostly she just took Max for granted, until it was clear she couldn't. My biggest complaint with Maggie was not telling Max when she realized Cole was her #1, because she knew Max would walk and she was too addicted to having her cake and eating it too. Kimmy is also horribly selfish, but it exhibits differently, and in a much worse way, because of her addiction to being awful and doing appalling things. My opinion, anyway, for whatever it's worth.

If I recall correctly, Devlin said that Josh was talking to Amy when Josh asked about it in the last book. Yet in the first book it was Devlin who came to drunk Josh and told him he did what he asked. So did Josh confide in Amy while he was drunk and Amy did what she always seems to do, stir the pot and involve Devlin? Given how devious Amy is, it could be just as likely that she planted the thought in Josh's head so she could revel in making this mess and drunk Josh went along with it, maybe not even knowing it was Devlin. After all, Amy was down with the original idea of a threesome with Devlin and Kimmy, so maybe she was trying to I recreate that event but not have Kimmy refuse this time. Kimmy's comment a couple chapters ago about Josh not remembering would seemingly corroborate this, but that then goes back to the weirdly contrived and not very congruent thought that Kimmy knew Josh asked for this from book 1. Something that I don't think is true, because it would be impossible for Kimmy to not think of that defining moment for 10+ books of intrigue and strife. It seems much more likely that Kimmy went along with it at the reunion with zero realization of Josh potentially asking or approving anything because even then, Kimmy was realizing she likes being awful. I would even go so far as to say it's likely Josh didn't ask, because having Josh's permission wouldn't get Kimmy nearly as wound up as the thought of doing something illicit behind his back.

Andrew Mellein

I think he told Devlin his cuckold fantasies as well. However Josh was stone cold drunk at the time. Also I believe any other man besides Devlin with Kimmy, Josh would not have a problem. Devlin is the worst choice to bring in their relationship. Every book in the series Kimmys behavior has gotten crazier. I hope Devlin texted some more sex photos of Kimmy to Josh so when she gets back to the apartment from Hyuns all hell would break loose with Josh!🤣🤣🤣

Tracey52

I too have started rereading book one. It’s great to read knowing what we do now. I think that’s its entirely possible that Josh told Devlin about his cuckold fantasy and that Devlin took that as a green light. Devlin’s brief recounting of what happened seems truthful from what we later learned. It may be that Josh got what he asked for in a twisted way, although watching Devlin have sex with Kimmy is probably the end game. Once again what Devlin was working towards. Kimmy however is something else.

L_S87

It's going to be interesting to see how Kimmy approachs this incident once it's over. Given her past history, the level of enjoyment she's receiving from this makes me think she's going to be revisiting this well multiple times. I feel like she saw this as an objective, a chore to complete towards her final goal of "keeping" Josh. I'm wondering how much her surprised enjoyment from this encounter changes her plans, and more importantly, how it relates to Josh. How's she going to treat him when she gets home? I was almost positive she would do the bare minimum with Hyun and then go home and twist Josh up, dominate him like she implied if he waits at home like a good little boy. Use that to really get off the way she wants. I wouldn't be surprised if now she forgets to even wake up and get home on time and leaves Josh even more twisted up then he was before, wondering what she did in that apartment that was so amazing that she couldn't even be bothered to come home properly. We'll see. Given her proclivities, it could be just as likely that she goes home, tells Josh everything to wrap him even tighter around her finger because the badness of her actions will totally get him off and not give a shit about her promise to Hyun to keep it a secret.

Andrew Mellein

I love when I started rereading the earlier books. It showed the seduction and eventual corruption of Kimmy by Devlin. But in the process Kimmy became more evil and crazy! For instance when Devlin first seduced her she refused to kiss him but then when the affair became more sexual there was kissing but no tongue! All this was supposed to be out of respect to Josh and her marriage(Right!!😆😆😆) But then when Devlin got Kimmy her fuck pad it became full on sexual tongue kissing by Kimmy. She also made fun of Josh’s penis size to Devlin and said he can’t please her. But in later book I think when Josh almost leaves she lies and said she never talked bad about him to Devlin! How many chapters in this book left? Not that I mind. But I am praying for something to drop for Kimmy!

Andrew Mellein

At this point it looks like Devlin’s out of the picture ( due to Kimmys large dildo) I doubt it! Kimmy is in love with Devlin she is just lying to herself just like she lies about everything. She claims she loves Josh too, but humiliates him behind his back. I pray 🙏 Kimmy suffers another miscarriage and can never have children😈😈 I think it would be funny if at the very end Josh and Kimmy remained together in a Gone Girl marriage with no love between them. Kimmy unable to have children and broken, back to weaving baskets (Devlin arrested for money laundering, Hyun no longer speaking to her) and Josh sticking by her out of his weird Kimmy loyalty mentality but no longer in love with her.

Kat

I had hoped, too, that the two week period of crying would have done something to her. I was hoping she’d have real long term regrets, and do something to Devlin. Maybe still have sex with him, but to trap him and blackmail him sexually or something. This thing with Hyun was definitely not on my list of things. I really hope KT has a twist coming up, something big with the ability to blow it all up. I don’t care what happens, as long as it takes Kimmy down. Everyone is collateral damage to her anyway.

Kat

Maggie had been my #1 worst, but Kimmy is just unrepentant and so evil.

Kat

It does seem like Kimmy is starting to enjoy this, but as you said, she can’t seem to think behind her own sexual satisfaction. What’s going to happen afterwards? Kimmy’s not leaving Josh for Hyun. This has to come out somehow, and there’s also Meyer, Sophie and poor Josh to think of. This has to blow up for Kimmy. Devlin is definitely not going to sit by and let Kimmy replace him with a silicone replica.

L_S87

Well, the bad guy... scratch that..... bad girl doesn't always get their just desserts. That said, I have a suspicion that KT is setting this up for something big. Unfortunately that means everyone is collateral damage, but Kimmy has grown so wildly out of control that she's going to make one mistake too many, and her house of cards is going to tumble. I had initially wondered if that two week period where she was a sobbing mess because she thought she was losing Josh was her penance, that all the emotional pain she went through would galvanize her into something better, but alas, no. The fact that she made it through seems to have just made her bolder. She's shifted focus from physical contact with Devlin but her behavior is worse, not better. Largely, I think, because Josh's tentative acceptance of her truthful story has encouraged her to believe she can cheat, lie, browbeat and cajole her way out of this while keeping her marriage relatively intact. The way this scene with Hyun has unfolded just shows that no matter how guilty she may feel, it doesn't hold a candle to her ability to compartmentalize said guilt and listen to what's between her legs instead of what's beating in her chest.

L_S87

This chapter makes me wonder. It feels like Kimmy is starting to enjoy this in a way she never thought possible, never contemplated. This endeavor started as a planned seduction with a set goal. That goal is still achievable, but now it seems that Kimmy is getting more out of this than she realized, getting something she didn't even know she wanted. A new play partner, someone who she can have sex with that she actually likes, even loves, if not the way she does Josh, and who she can share things with. Hyun is the best possible friend with benefits. Oh, she's not perfect. Perfect Hyun would have taken that dildo and given Kimmy the satisfaction of orchestrating a totally corrupting orgasm. But, she's just submissive enough, and non-judgmental enough, to tick most of the boxes Kimmy was looking for, and a few she wasn't that she now realizes she wants. And now she gets to show Hyun what sex with Devlin is like. Poor Josh. As if things weren't already bad enough. This has created a whole slew of complications for him that he doesn't even realize exist. One thing's for sure... if Kimmy thinks Devlin is just going to sit down and take being replaced by a silicone analog, she's wrong.... dead marriage wrong.

Mike Monroe

Agreed 💯...Kimmy is the villian in this story . The boogey man! She is a nightmare and repulsive. I hate that she continues to get away with everything with out consequences..period! She deserves something as horrible as she has done to Josh. That punishment should be no child for her.. Sorry we don't need Damien Omen in the world. This should be the price for what she has done and never be able to do it again. It is harsh but that is what she deserves. Great writing KT! She is the Queen of mean ....the most evil wife ever created ...I thought Maggie was bad and also Jess but Kimmy beats them all period!!! No contest!!!

Kat

I don’t know what to say about this chapter. It sort of repulsed me, and not because of the explicit stuff. The way she manipulates Hyun is repulsive. Kimmy is rotten to her core. It’s time for her to get what’s coming to her. I don’t care if it humiliates Josh or Hyun. Kimmy needs to pay. There have to be some consequences for all the evil this wicked creature has done. It seems like whatever she does she gets what she wants, and never has to answer for her sins.
