He chuckled, pulling her into his arms. “I did?”

“If you say so,” he said, not even caring. If he’d known how it would affect him, he would have begged her to do it. “It’s okay,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “I kind of liked it.”
“Danny, it was a lot more than kind-of. It made you crazy.”
“Yeah,” he admitted with a chuckle. “It was...hot. Crazy hot.”
She moved her mouth to his and kissed him, lips soft and warm.

Chula Vista... good one! When looking "chulo/chula" up bear in mind it has other less salubrious connotations than cute or hot... A "chulo" is a pimp, and the adjective can be a rebuke... to be a wise guy, to be presumptuous or pushy. It's a good example of the unity of opposites, or the differences between Spanish spoken in different countries and contexts. In a Spanish book I read once, I remember it was traced back to 'ciullo' in Italian, meaning little boy in English and also ignorant, inept.

It's just another outstanding chapter by KT. I obviously obsess over the moments when wifey gets out of hand with someone other than her husband, but this is the kind of connection that gives such depth to a story. I just love the use of the setting for where they doing it as crucial in this, really evoked a lot of imagery, which taken with the realism of what transpired between Danny and Ellie, really made for an excellent scene.
