"It feels great that you're here, brother... hiccup. Honestly, I feel burdened. I'm confident in my noble qualities, but being an assault captain is a different story... hiccup."
"Same here, brother... I wish I were a bit taller or had better awakening abilities..."
Before long, midnight had passed.
Medical Officer Peter and Elf Priscilla had already returned to their lodgings.
The remaining members were more than just drunk, burning their last energy.
"When the Captain introduced the members to me earlier, she praised you and Mari a lot. She said that thanks to friends like you who give their all, we've made it this far."
"Hehe! Hearing that makes me blush~ Haha, hiccup! Ah, happiness..."
Eugene shared heartfelt stories and comforted Thomas and Mari, who were expressing their gratitude.
Eugene looked more sober compared to the two.
He had drunk moderately because he still had missions left.
Snore... Snore...
Jeanne was sleeping on Eugene's shoulder.
Eugene had to take the completely drunk Jeanne back to the Dukedom.
"Then let's disperse the welcoming ceremony here!"
"Aww, it's a shame..."
Thud!
The alcohol was so strong that even Ivan, who was still sober, announced the end of the Red Fox Mercenary Group's gathering.
Mari lay down on the sofa, feeling regretful.
"Should I escort you, brother?"
"No, you should go with Mari. I can handle it myself."
Sophia, Ivan, and Peter shared the same lodging.
Also, Mari and Thomas's lodgings were the same.
So Thomas always escorted Mari back.
However, since Jeanne was completely out of it, Thomas felt he should follow Eugene.
The distance to the Dukedom was the farthest.
But Eugene suggested sticking to the original plan, having heard that Mari had also drunk more than usual.
"Hey, Eugene?"
Rustle!
As Thomas and Mari left, Eugene also stood up, carrying the still sleeping Jeanne, to head back home.
At that moment, he heard Sophia's voice from behind him, along with the sound of her footsteps rushing towards him.
"Yes, Priestess Sophia? What's going on?"
Swish!
Eugene turned his head and body slightly while still carrying Jeanne.
"Take this."
Whoosh!
Sophia reached Eugene and handed him something.
Her expression was cautious, with a hint of excitement, suggesting it was something intimate.
"What is it?"
Eugene seemed to understand what Sophia was giving him.
"Condoms. These are essential. Just in case."
It was a condom.
Even though Jeanne and Eugene weren't related by blood, having grown up together as siblings, it was unlikely that anything would happen between them even if Jeanne was completely drunk.
But Sophia, unaware of their background, thought that the chances of something happening between Eugene and Jeanne today were 99%.
So, despite being a secular priestess, Sophia decided to ensure her colleagues had a healthy relationship.
She had obtained the condom somewhere and was handing it to Eugene.
"Is this size enough? The owner said it's the size used by orcs, exaggerating a bit."
"Hmm... It should be enough."
In their brief encounter, Sophia astonishingly guessed Eugene's size and showed detailed care.
Eugene received the extra-large condom somewhat passively.
"Haha! The Captain is going to break the rule of no office romances for a while? Well, good luck, Eugene!"
Rustle!
As Sophia ran towards her lodging, her large breasts swayed with each step.
The Red Fox Mercenary Group had banned office romances until they were well-established, as romantic issues often caused internal conflicts.
But if the Captain were to break that rule first,
For Sophia, who was addicted to dopamine, there couldn't be anything more entertaining.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Eventually, Eugene headed home with Jeanne still on his shoulder.
"Hmm... Ah, it's nice... So spacious and cozy... Hmm..."
Jeanne had been sleeping peacefully on the tavern sofa, but as soon as she lay on Eugene's back, her mumbling became more intense.
"I'll kill you if you say I've gotten bigger, sister... Hmm, it's nice... So cozy..."
Snuggle, snuggle, snuggle...
"Are you awake or sleeping?"
As time passed, Jeanne's mumbling became more explicit.
She was making a fuss, nuzzling her face against Eugene's neck and making kissing sounds.
This made Eugene's expression turn indifferent as he commented on the situation.
"Anyway, Sophia, she doesn't see me as a woman... That's because there are women far more feminine than me at home—my mom, sister, and younger sister... All three are incomparably more feminine than me."
But Jeanne was drunk to the point of losing her mind.
In that state, being carried by her brother, with whom she had spent a long time, felt incredibly comfortable.
Moreover, over the past few days, she had experienced various emotional fluctuations.
So Jeanne used the alcohol to express herself, babbling like she was speaking in dialect.
The smell of alcohol in her every word made Eugene suspect that Jeanne was just pretending to be out of it.
And so, with a calm expression, Eugene continued to carry Jeanne.
"It's okay that she doesn't see me as a woman... But I'm envious of how affectionate you are with our mom, sister, and younger sister... I think it's because I behave like a tomboy."
Jeanne had always wanted to be loved since she was young.
She envied Eugene's warm interactions with their family members.
However, she didn't have the courage to express her desire for such interactions herself.
"But today, my brother protected me... Hehe, bring me more alcohol... I'll drink more..."
The sight of Eugene heading off to fight Kyle, his reassuring smile when he returned,
These appearances by Eugene as her brother were enough to fill the long-held desires of Jeanne.
So, completely drunk, she babbled out her true feelings to Eugene without realizing it.
"You were cool, Eugene... So manly... Someone I can rely on..."
Jeanne felt a liking for Eugene not just as a brother but as Eugene Schneider himself.
That was how she felt about him today.
"You were beautiful too, Jeanne. Your eyes, genuinely worried about me. After the duel, I thought I had returned safely to someone who was waiting for me, which made me smile."
Eugene Schneider also made a sort of confession.
The smile he gave Jeanne after his victory was far different from his usual smiles.
It was half unintentional, a natural smile that came from seeing Jeanne's relieved face after worrying about him.
Thus, Eugene made a beautiful confession,
But then he stopped suddenly.
"..."
His expression, which had been warm and mature during the confession, suddenly hardened.
Gurgle... Gurgle...
The reason was something flowing profusely from his left shoulder.
"Ugh... Ugh... Ugh!"
Gurgle... Gurgle...
"Damn it, Jeanne... I take back what I said about you being beautiful..."
After hours of drinking, Jeanne had started vomiting while being carried by Eugene.
"Hmm... Hmm... Hmm..."
The sight was so peaceful from Jeanne's perspective, but for Eugene, it was infuriating.
However, Eugene had matured significantly and transformed his rising anger into a calmness.
What's the point of getting angry at someone who's drunk?
So Eugene stood there, calmly assessing the situation and deciding his next move.
His shoulder and back were covered in Jeanne's vomit, which had even reached his pants.
Trying to return home in this state would be like advertising to the people of the Dukedom that he was doing something foolish with a low-ranking mercenary.
"I know that inns in this world don't usually accept new guests after midnight..."
Glance! Glance! Glance!
Eugene looked around.
Given that going home was unrealistic, he decided to stay at an inn in the mercenary district.
However, he was skeptical.
In Korea, motels welcome guests who just stay overnight, but this world is different.
Accepting unknown guests late at night could lead to existing guests being assassinated or drunken brawls breaking out.
So, at this hour, only existing guests or their acquaintances come and go.
"If I say I'm from the Dukedom, it might be resolved, but that would create a bigger aftermath."
Of course, if his identity were guaranteed, anything would be possible.
But the identity guarantee badge Eugene had was not very reliable.
Thus, Eugene stood there, carrying the vomit-covered Jeanne, looking quite disheveled.
Just then, a voice that sounded like a lifeline reached his ears.
"Hey, rookie, are you leaving now? With the Captain?"
A very familiar voice,
It came from the upper floor of a building near where Eugene was standing.
"Is that Priscilla? It sounds like Priscilla's voice."
Swish!
Eugene turned his head to look up.
The voice belonged to Priscilla, who had left the party about four hours ago.
She was leaning on the window, tongue out, looking down at Eugene.
"Wow, the Captain has really done something to the rookie."
Priscilla was watching the scene with great interest.
The building on the right side of the street where Eugene was walking was the inn where Priscilla was staying.
Since she didn't sleep much at night, she was gazing out the moonlit window.
She spotted Eugene carrying Jeanne and decided to speak up.
"Thank you, Priscilla."
Priscilla offered to vouch for Eugene, allowing him and Jeanne to stay in a single room despite being late-night arrivals.
About 10 minutes later, the three of them headed to the room assigned by the innkeeper.
Thanks to Priscilla's guarantee, Eugene and Jeanne were able to stay together in one room.
Priscilla responded with a cool expression and a nasal sound.
Elves have very sensitive hearing and smell.
So the vomit smell from Jeanne was like a bomb to Priscilla,
Who covered her nose as she accompanied them.
"Since my room is next door, I have very sensitive ears. Please keep the noise down if you're going to enjoy yourselves. See you tomorrow."
The 150 cm tall Priscilla coolly mentioned Eugene and Jeanne's potential intimacy.
Eugene, who had grown accustomed to such misunderstandings, replied nonchalantly.
Priscilla had watched Eugene and Jeanne before he left to fight Kyle and thought they might make history today.
After checking in, Eugene's face was on the verge of exploding with frustration.
The extent of Jeanne's mess was far beyond what he had imagined on the street.
Eugene's small bag contained high-quality perfumes used by nobles.
If only Jeanne's outer clothes were covered in vomit, he could use the perfume to manage the situation somewhat.
But Jeanne's vomit had penetrated deep inside her clothes, creating a mess.
In other words,
"I have to strip Jeanne and wash her."
Eugene Schneider, 21, would have to undress and bathe Jeanne, the 22-year-old noblewoman from the Dukedom.
"Don't think about it that way. Even if it's inside, it could be different in detail."
Under the bright light of the magic lantern, Eugene's expression was shaken as he tried to calm himself down.
Since the combat uniform was made of leather, it might have defended against the internal penetration of the vomit.
"So, let's take it off and assess the situation."
Thus, Eugene Schneider began to undress Jeanne.
