🕑 Added 2023-01-02 04:21:11 +0000 UTCThere’s a quote I’ve always liked, which goes something like; “if I had more time, I’d have written you a shorter letter.” Very much that spirit, today I bring you perhaps the longest reading excerpt yet, whose contents are overwhelming not reading excerpts at all but rather me unspooling on the topics of content warnings, invitations to experiences, and other design considerations. It’s all very “inside baseball” for making immersive content, so if you’re into that sort of discussion, jump on in! Otherwise, if you just want a quick overview of some of the content from the Immersive Entertainment Industry Report Update, I recommend skipping to the 03:15 minute mark and listening to just that section.

The System has been informed that every child is unique, special, and remarkable (and your child even more so). As such, it is difficult to determine how they may respond to any given theme which may be explored in your session, (or how willing they are to navigate a telephone-based experience). While content-warnings and considerations are available (see "more info about accessibility"), it may prove instructive to consider the following scenario: You have just entered a used book-store. Books of every kind cram the shelves and lay in stacks on the floor, and there's no telling what you might find in the first one you pick up. You think someone is burning incense, but you can't quite say what the scent is, and though there's a bell to ring for assistance, you have no idea who will show up if you ring it. Now imagine that your child is with you. Are you excited to share this space with them? What kind of conversations might you need to have before, during, or after you do so?
