So where this will really help me is reducing the amount of post work I need to do on the environments. In my workflow, I generally will knockup the basic layout in 3d to take care of all of the perspective for me so I don't need to spend the time setup my perspective grid and ensure everything is correct. Then after modeling, I'll save the image and paint over it to illustrate the background. Where the shader will really help is, if I push the details of the scene further during my modeling phase, I can just render it and would have to do basically no post work. Essentially removing my need to draw the scene completely.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping, I know spending time on this was a little bit of a setback in terms of completing the update but I think developing this tool is going to be more beneficial to me for future development and stress. Cause if I can have more time devote to actually drawing the good stuff, then I'll put more time into making them better and juicier :) These H Scenes I'm working on now will be an example of that.

I guess I don't know enough about the technical side to understand how this was necessary, but I'm happy it makes you happy! I thought one technique artists of games used was to layer images so they didn't have to redraw the backgrounds. Is this unrelated?

Congrats on the new shader!! All of the redrawing of scenes you'd already built in 3D was aesthetically pleasing but did seem to be a massive workflow bottleneck. Hopefully this lets you focus more on the H-scenes and stress less about the location visuals ☺️
