So fun fact from your friendly neighborhood medical student: Metoprolol isn't a blood thinner. It's actually a beta blocker. It basically prevents things from stimulating the heart to beat harder to reduce hypertension (there's more to it but thats the gist). A blood thinner is something that keeps blood from clotting. It doesn't make the blood thinner like adding water to a sauce might, it reduces blood clots that could cause strokes and heart attacks by fucking with the blood clots themselves or the things that make them. An example would be something like warfarin. So what might this fictional doctor have actually used in this scenario? Well I looked at my textbooks and it turns out MOUTH ACID FROM BUG SATAN is actually cured with thoughts and prayers. Good thing there's a church in deadwood! Also, I'm not trying to say they should know this shit lmao that would be insane, I just wanted to share some fun facts since JRWI did get my dumbass into medical school :D ANYWAYS LOVED THE EPISODE!!!

It’s canon if William and the town (plus, presumably, his parents, since canonically they’re okay in PD) survives; it’d make William not telling the rest of the PD that all of his friends died (like, when he talked about his past in Deadwood) a little odd but it’d make his extreme fear (especially at the end of Season 2) become honestly pretty understandable so… yeah, canonicity will be determined by how this plays out.
