I worked at a junkyard during the Cash for Clunkers. I was actually the one in charge of making sure all of the engines are seized. We were allowed to sell parts off the car but not the engine so they made us pour some type of liquid glass in the engine and run it until it locked up. It was a pretty sad thing to see some of those cars. they were pretty nice. But it definitely did help the economy at the time. There was quite a few people that didn't want to do it they would have rather fixed their old car and that enabled us to sell quite a bit of used parts off of the cash for clunkers cars. It's sad because there is quite a bit of cool cars that end up going to the junkyard. The one that hurt my feelings the most was one time we got a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 with a dead battery and the right front bumper had a dent. I guess the lady's son was in the military and she just wanted the car gone. I tried to buy it from my boss multiple times but he said the deal he made with her was that nobody else would ever drive that car again.
