They do have meaning! Elijah is correct, the red ones represent romantic relationships :D The rest are various connections and friendships and the colors mostly line up with the character's representative/favorite colors but don't have meaning beyond that.

Red might mean romantic connections, because each of the established partners have red strings tied to each other 👀 I’ve been thinking about this ever since this was posted trying to figure it out lol
HEY so I totally saw this art again and have a sneaky question but maybe I’m reading in to it too much. Do the strings match up to connections in the comic? If so do the colours represent something? Or is it just strings and I’m being silly. XD
