Why SAO is a Worse Video Game than it is an anime
🕑 Added 2016-12-16 17:05:00 +0000 UTC Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts over the last month - the trip to japan kept me preeeetty busy, and a lot of the rest of my time has been spent working on content. I know I missed putting up a video last week, but hopefully this 40 minute teardown of the game design in SAO will make up for that a bit!also, the first patron poll for the weebcast will be going up tonight!

I'm gonna probably sound stupid but... What if the release of SAO was actually the open beta, I mean closed beta already happened, it could be possible that it was time for the open beta... I mean 30k sold would be a failure of epic proportion after all.
Reverse Spectrum
fuck SAO
Mother's Basement
Yeah, that was a thing in older games (inspired in part by skill leveling in tabletop stuff) but they changed how those games work for a reason.

Wow, this is GAME changing!

You know, to be fair with the skill system. Ashron's Call and Ultima Online both used a grindy skill system like in SAO. Use this skill x amount of times, level it up. Before AC gave bonus skill points on level ups, it was the only way to level up skills.

Love the video and dammit you beat me to it! The only thing I think you missed/could of talked about was the issues with the nerve gear and how it seems impossible for it to be a cheap form of technology.

Would it be very mean to compare the gameplay to Ride to Hell or Omikron?
