Late Night Writing [Writer’s Blog #10]

As I’m writing this, I am at a friend’s house, sitting on the couch, listening to the soft breathing of people slipping deeper and deeper into dreamland, having just got done with a script.
It’s been quite difficult for me to write recently, due to the sheer amount of stress that I’m in and although I do enjoy writing, I can honestly say, I haven’t had such an idyllic writing experience in a long time.
I had a day of revelry and a night of creativity and I couldn’t ask for a better combination. Today had been really fun, solely for the fact that I got to unwind and relax with friends, instead of being cooped up in a room or rotting away at a cafe somewhere. I suppose when you’re with good company, inspiration and drive will come to you.
Writing has become somewhat of an obligation in recent memory and although I’m happy to have something I’m passionate about become something I can make an income off of, I also can’t remember the last time I picked up my laptop and wrote something, just because I wanted to do it… and I’m really grateful for this experience.
Mental resets are important. Writing in different settings and around different people is important. I suppose this little impromptu session has inspired me to try writing in different settings and experiences, if the inspiration strikes of course.
This entire situation, no matter how small it may seem in the eyes of a spectator, truly made me realize that I’m not losing my love for the art of writing, I just needed a break. To be honest, the thought of maybe losing my love for creating stories one day terrifies me beyond measure, but I’m grateful that today has shown me that if I take care of myself, if I slow it down and enjoy my life, then I won’t ever lose that love. In such a loud, hustle culture centered world, where your level of success is measured by how much of yourself you give up, sometimes the most important thing we can do, in order to ensure that we don’t lose our passion, is to stop, even if it’s just for a brief moment.

*inhales* TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOURSELF GODDAMMIT!!!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. *exhale* That aside, glad you've had time for a break. The feeling of doing what you love constantly till you get burnt out and lose passion for it is terrible, and no one should be subjected to such a cruel fate. I wouldn't even wish it on my enemies :p. Take care of both body and mind.
