I’d really recommend seeing all of the above movies, but in order of release to enjoy them the best. But I also would add The Crazies (remake)

Not planning on any comedies with relatively no horror in them this month. There’s some lighter stuff scheduled to be done and be put on polls, but no comedies outside of Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland.

How about at least one lighter / comedic horror on each poll? So, like, for slasher movies, there's Scary Movie (1, 2, 3, 4 - I think 3 is the best). For vampire movies, there's Once Bitten, Love at first Bite, Dracula Dead & Loving It, and more. Let majority decide if they want to go for intense horror or light horror or what.

All South Korean movies elicit tears (well...the 7 or so I've seen anyway. "all" might be...well...)Never got around to seeing Train ...gonna buy a copy right now 'cause of what y'all said. Cheers everybody!

Busan is basically a perfect movie. The zombies are really just the catalyst for the human interactions. And yes, I cry EVERY TIME, too. South Korean horror is just amazing, in general.

I'm not really a zombie fan, but having said that, "Train to Busan" is *excellent*. I never thought I would see a zombie movie good enough to make me cry, but I was actually in tears at the end of the movie, no exaggeration. You don't get that from a formulaic zombie flick. This movie gets the viewer emotionally invested in the characters, and it's the only zombie movie I would ever watch again in a heartbeat if someone asked me to.

I think I hear you, Nick, and I somewhat disagree however: I'm really enjoying this debate! Ja Love, brother!I doubt most audiences in 78 absorbed or noticed the social satire of Dawn. Reactors gonna react. First time I saw Jacob's Ladder twas just a scary movie with a twist. Wait for a reactor to jump when the Alien bursts from Hurt. Wait for them to weep when Brooks swings. Bruce Willis is dead and Rosebuds a sled - ie your criticism applies across genres. But horror flicks do mostly get reduced to "surprise" and little more. Being a bit bratty here, yet genuine: I bet you'd get a lot out of Wait Until Dark (1967). Stevey King called it the scariest horror ever and the term "jump scare" literally comes from it. It's a dilly!

We don't really disagree on much (I can see the Exorcist being a very subjective experience). I'll point out that there isn't an obligatory month for, say, heist movies, where we get every slightly notorious heist movie sneaking its way onto a poll ('This week, army heists! Choose from "Three Kings", "Triple Frontier", "Kelly's Heroes", and ... uh ....... "Army of the Dead"!'). There ARE horror movies with merit. Not a lot of them are gonna win polls or be popular fodder for reacters. Horror movies are liked in the 'reaction' medium because of their most superficial trait (jump scares). With other genres (Good Will Hunting, Rocky, Back to the Future) the appeal of the 'reaction' is very much in-tune with the actual qualities of the movie/show/genre. But with horror ... 'Dawn of the Dead' is a cultural artifact of satire .... is anyone watching a reaction of it for the satire? Is any reacter actually caring about the satire? Nah. This theme-month exists because people get their kicks off jolts and blood.

Nick: Indeed most horror movies are bad. Most movies of any genre are bad. Sounds like you've only crossed paths with cheap exploitation and violence porn which yuck and yawn, I concur. Those movies are vile and childish. But there is beautiful, sublime art deep in Horror's well of shadows. And brilliant comedy too!If it's not your thing, cool. You don't gotta dig everything that's buried - but don't dismiss it out of hand. And it's Halloween, be groovy about it! It's fun! I don't believe in the healing redemption of Santa, but lo there will come jingle bell flicks. Snow's cool, so whateves.For the record: I dislike The Exorcist on multiple levels. I think it's boring and grotesque, albeit very well filmed.

I get it. I'm not surprised by any of it (every reacter does it). But I think it's fair to give voice to the token few of us who aren't affected by jump-scares and can't find a helluva lot else to be impressed with by most horror movies (boobs are nice ... until they're covered in blood). And of course I'm exaggerating with the 5, I'll probably discover a few good ones this month (I trust that 28 Days is good) ... but I think that well's gonna run dry real quick.

The Exorcist, and some others, are already scheduled for the month. And while I do understand and sympathize with non-horror fans, these are all mainly movies that we've had request countless times and we've done very, very, very little horror recently for a reason. We've always planned and been pretty vocal that this was always the plan for our first October season as a channel. But J does plan on doing a few non-horror exclusives when he gets spare time, so Patreon should still have a some non-horror entries throughout the month when we're able to do so. And there are WAY more than 5 good horror movies. LoL

I know this is not a popular opinion, but ... it would be great if these had an option for "Some random non-horror movie", or maybe just "Skip the October horror obligation thing", or maybe "I know it's not zombies but 'The Exorcist' because it's one of the 5 good horror movies".

I've never been much of a zombie fan. I do however like a good comedic farce like Tucker and Dale Versus Evil and some of the remakes of the old classics are a little campy to the point where I can watch them too. Either way I will be watching! Peace!
