I was just telling someone earlier Val is essentially the antagonist of the movie, and is kind of the only unlikable character in the whole film. LoL

Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are so great in this! While I do get Val's internalized fear of society's homophobia, I still can't help but resent him for it. Armand and Albert love him SO MUCH and yet he's willing to throw them under the bus at the drop of a hat. Like, if your fiancee doesn't want to marry you because her parents are bigots, then maybe you just dodged a bullet.

Just saw an interview with Nathan lane he said Robin Williams was supposed to play Albert and Steve Martin was supposed to play Robin Williams per as the dad but Steve Martin couldn't do it
