I think Nora deserved what Kevin gave her 100% . Someone needed to put her in her place , someone needed to say harsh words to her and Kevin saying it was perfect .
I agree with your idea that this is what Nora needed to hear but Kevin definitely is like the worst communicator on the planet. That last line he gives her is cold as helllllll

The guy in Kevin Sr's episode answered the baby question the other way, so the scientists must've been looking for body language, hesitation, stuff like that rather than the specific answer. Also do you recognize one of the scientists as the Man in Black's daughter from Westworld?

That final closeup of Nora with the water acting as tears is stunning (and always reminds me of the Roy Batty "tears in the rain" scene in Bladerunner).
