Jude Law double feature, IMO - Gattaca and Road to Perdition. Could throw Enemy at the Gates in there too for spice.

I would recommend Failty, Sorry to Bother You, and Gone Girl if you haven't seen them.

Clue (1985), a who's who of 80s comedy talent does a wacky murder whodunnit based on the board game Speed Racer (2008), the Wachowski siblings campy bright kinetic action packed fun adaptation of the children's anime? One of my favs. Zodiac (2007), director David Fincher's look at the investigation into the Zodiac Killer, and on the nature of obsession, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, & Robert Downey Jr. Contagion (2011), Steven Soderbergh's star studded tense thriller about a worldwide epidemic, which while a significantly worse plague ended up being prescient in certain ways Big Trouble in Little China (1986) teams Kurt Russell & director John Carpenter again (after The Thing & Escape from NY) in a campy self aware satirical action comedy that is one of my top 10 movies all time.

I recommend the following new options: 12 Monkeys - excellent sci-fi movie starring Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, and Brad Pitt Stargate - solid sci-fi movie starring two of your favorites, Kurt Russell (the Thing) and James Spader (Blacklist) They Live - Cult classic starring Rowdy Roddy Piper Heavy Metal - Cult classic American "anime". It's a set of shorts with amazing music. Very funny and dummy will probably love it.

Definitely second American Psycho. Any movie based on a Bret Easton Ellis novel is going to be a dark social commentary told from a psychotic POV. There's also a 2002 movie called The Rules of Attraction that has a similar feel but on a college campus. James Van Der Beek plays Sean Bateman, Patric Bateman's younger brother.

The Way of the Gun (2000) - A fucking awesome crime movie. It's the first film written/directed by Chris McQuarrie, the guy who wrote Usual Suspects. He also wrote/directed Mission Impossible: Fallout and was the lead writer of Edge of Tomorrow.

Miller's Crossing (1990) - The third movie by the Coen Brothers and, I think, one of the best gangster films ever. In fact, I'll bet anyone 10 internet points that the main character, Tom, will be in Jimmy's top 50 character list ;)

I'm also going to suggest "American Psycho". Especially since you enjoyed Nightcrawler so much. The main performance reminds me a lot of Patrick Bateman. Even though it's not as great as the book it's still a must see in my opinion. And it features Christian Bale's best performance of his career (even though it's hard to tell, since he's always phenomenal). I believe you're going to enjoy this immensely 😀

Please put "Road to perdition" on the list again. A masterpiece by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall, 1917). It has Tom Hanks in one of his most underrated and unusual roles. Same goes for Jude law. Also Paul Newman in his last role and Daniel Craig before his career as James Bond. It also has stunning (oscar winning) cinematography.

Can’t remember if/why we stopped recommending the rest of Edgar Wright’s stuff, but: Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and the World’s End. Outside of that, if you haven’t seen: Birdman, No Country for Old Men, Hero (the Jet Li martial arts one), the Wrestler, Whiplash. And dunno what happened to MHA, but the second movie Heroes Rising is mostly outstanding.

Reupping from last month, but: - Road to Perdition is a fantastic film. Tom Hanks in a different kind of role for him, but a great one. Daniel Craig, pre-Bond. Early Jude Law. And the great Paul Newman in one of his last, and IMO best, performances. All directed by Sam Mendes, of American Beauty/Skyfall/1917 fame. Cannot be slept on. - Unforgiven. Now that you've watched a couple of westerns that are fun but IMO pretty unremarkable, 1992 Best Picture winner Unforgiven is a must. Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Richard Harris. Amazing film. idk if either of these can win a poll, but they sure deserve to.

New world (2013) this isn't a mainstream film. It is however one of the best gangster movies Korea has made. Fantastic cast, solid acting and story. Subtitled being its only flaw.
