In fairness to Titan, I don't think he ever really *lied* to Mark, just withheld that he would step in as the new boss. Regarding Battle Beast - the version that's been meme'd to death is that this was like if Kingpin hired Thanos to fight the TV Defenders, or like if your RPG party walked into a Level 99 dungeon at the start of the game, both of which are accurate. But, another way of looking at it is that, while Omni-Man might have just wanted Mark to learn his painful lesson, it's at least possible that part of why he didn't step in was that even he saw Battle Beast and thought "Hm, maybe I don't want this smoke right now."
