You're right. Third act is practically a different movie from the theatrical version. Guessing studio was worried audience wouldn't be sympathetic to Porter? Can't say they were wrong if so. Damn.

Man I just finished watching this and it is *insane* how different they are. The tone of the movie throughout is different, and the final act is ENTIRELY different. Wild. If you liked this, check out the theatrical cut sometime. It is very good.

This movie is interesting in that the theatrical cut and the director's cut are so different they are almost different movies. Long story. What you watched here was the director's cut. This is one of the rare films where the consensus is generally that the theatrical version is much better and the DC is a step down. The DC is, like, completely joyless. They're both fun films.
