Watching everyone in the group chat discussing the new member, Gary was filled with confusion.
What was going on?
Why did it seem like he was the only one left out?
It felt like the entire company had gone on a team-building retreat… except no one invited him.
Determined to reintegrate himself, Gary quickly pulled out his phone and typed.
Beware of Online Scams: 【Who is Mewtwo?】
Gardevoir Is the Best: 【Mewtwo is Mewtwo.】
Psychic Prodigy Sabrina: 【+1】
Clefable and Jigglypuff Are Adorable: 【+1 (LOL)】
Cinnabar Island Riddle Master: 【+1】
Beware of Online Scams: 【.....】
Gary was convinced—Asahi was doing this on purpose.
And this newcomer, Mewtwo… It had joined the group but didn’t even acknowledge him, its senior member.
Having just taken down a Rocket Team faction, Gary felt his strength had improved significantly. He secretly vowed that the next time they met, he’d challenge this rookie to a battle—teach it some respect for its seniors!
Yes, that was it!
Gary grinned confidently.

Asahi had no idea that Gary planned to use a battle to "educate" Mewtwo.
Otherwise, he would have immediately dragged Mewtwo over, set up a camera, and recorded exactly how Gary planned to "educate" it.
Since Mewtwo hadn’t yet learned how to read human text, Asahi messaged Green, asking her to help write Mewtwo’s employment report.
Then, he brought up another matter.
“Mew, you said that once we found Mewtwo, we’d be able to treat Grandpa Blaine. Now that Mewtwo is here, can we solve Grandpa Blaine’s issue?”
Due to his close contact with Mewtwo on New Island, Grandpa Blaine’s body had suffered even more severe erosion from Mewtwo’s cells.
If they didn’t treat him soon, Asahi figured it wouldn’t be long before they’d have to prepare for his funeral.
“Mew~!”
Mew gestured with its little hands.
“You need to combine Mewtwo’s power with my Viridian Force? That’s a minor issue…” Asahi turned to Mewtwo, who was fiddling with its communicator.
“Mewtwo, I’ll need your help with something tomorrow.”
Mewtwo looked up, puzzled, but still nodded.
While Mew guided Mewtwo through some basic human knowledge and literacy, Asahi turned his attention to his system rewards panel.
[1. Secrets of the Land (Giovanni’s Signed Collector’s Edition)]
[2. Fragment of the Gulaan Meteorite]
[3. Mewtwo Cells (Implantable)]
This was the reward from his previous "Double Life" title. Without hesitation, Asahi chose the Gulaan Meteorite Fragment.
Now, for this time’s rewards...
[1. Mewtwo Mega Stone Y]
[2. Indigo Orb]
[3. Crimson Orb]
Asahi: “.....”
The system really couldn’t let go of these two orbs, huh?
Last time, when he captured Mini Lugia at Rampletchi, these were the exact same reward choices.
Back then, he had picked the Sky Plate instead.
And now these orbs showed up again…
Asahi hesitated.
Should he pick them?
Both choices had strong justifications.
If he didn’t pick the orbs, he’d get the Mewtwo Mega Stone Y. He already had Mewtwo Mega Stone X, but having both forms available was always a good thing.
If he did pick the orbs, he’d have the opportunity to intervene in a potential future Hoenn Legendary Trio War.
After some thought, Asahi ultimately decided on the first option—Mewtwo Mega Stone Y.
Not for any profound reason—just because he had a bit of OCD. It just felt wrong not to complete the set... (Just kidding.)
Besides, Hoenn wasn’t his jurisdiction. His main focus was still dealing with Rocket Team and the Masked Corps.
He needed immediate combat power, not artifacts that might only be useful in some distant future conflict.
For Rocket Team, he was certain that once Giovanni recovered, he’d seek revenge.
As for the Masked Corps… even if not for the League, Asahi had to take them down for Green’s sake.
So…
[System, I choose Mewtwo Mega Stone Y.]
Receiving his reward, Asahi retrieved his backpack and pulled out the Mewtwo Mega Stone X he had obtained earlier.
The moment both Mega Stones were out, they immediately caught Mewtwo’s attention.
Mew also curiously floated over, examining the mystical Mega Stones.
Mewtwo stared at the stones in Asahi’s hands. It could feel an immense attraction from them.
【These are...?】
“Mewtwo Mega Stones, specially made for you.” Asahi smiled.
With that, he tossed the two Mega Stones toward Mewtwo.
Using Psychic, Mewtwo caught them and examined the floating stones.
The X Mega Stone was blue-purple, while the Y Mega Stone had a soft pink-purple hue.
From them, Mewtwo sensed two completely different auras.
It reached out to touch them but… nothing happened.
A confused expression appeared on Mewtwo’s face.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a Mega Stone?
Reading Mewtwo’s thoughts from its expression, Asahi explained.
“Mega Evolution isn’t like regular evolution. A Mega Stone alone isn’t enough—you also need a trainer’s power.”
As he spoke, Asahi lifted his wrist, revealing his Keystone.
The moment the Keystone was exposed, the Mega Stones in Mewtwo’s hands began to glow.
But then, as if something was missing, the glow quickly faded.
Asahi knew it was because Mewtwo wasn’t officially his Pokémon yet.
But Mewtwo didn’t know that.
It thought something had gone wrong.
Seeing an opportunity, Asahi pulled out a Master Ball and coaxed,
“Mewtwo, why not become my partner and experience a whole new form?”
【Partner...?】
Mewtwo hesitated. Wasn't it already Asahi’s…?
It turned to look at Mew Mama for confirmation.
“Mew…”
Feeling powerless to correct Mewtwo’s misguided concept, Mew’s tail drooped. The future seemed bleak.
But it fully supported Asahi’s decision to capture Mewtwo.
During the battle on New Island, Mewtwo had almost been captured by Rocket Team twice. Staying out in the open was dangerous.
And so, trusting Mew Mama and Asahi, Mewtwo reached out—
With a flash of light, it was absorbed into the Master Ball.
With a soft thud, Asahi successfully captured Mewtwo.
【You have successfully deceived an innocent, newly-born, and ignorant Mewtwo into joining you. You have earned the title: "Path of Legends (II)".】
