With my cheeks swollen, I kneel down on the ground with my face facing the ground, trying to appease the girl in front of me.
"I am so sorry... I thought you were someone I knew."
How the fuck was I supposed to know that she was a gender-bend. It makes zero sense!

Oh boy this will be fun, but I should focus on the present and try to appease the girl in front of me since she is the main girl-I mean main character.

After a few moments of silence, she sigh softly, before grabbing my shoulder and slowly lifting me up.

I sigh in relief "Thank you, I should introduce my self, name is Daniel Robert Hayes." I bring my hand to her for a handshake "Or everyone close to me calls me Daniel."
Maybe telling her my real name instead of my username wasn't the smartest move especially when I am using my real appearance instead of fake like others. But to be honest I don't really care since they are AI.
And if something goes wrong I can just change appearance and name.
She takes my hand with an enthusiastic grin, giving it a bright, energetic shake. "Nice to meet you, too, Daniel!"
Her smile is so genuine, it's almost blinded my eyes. Is this the same girl I touch the breast a moment ago?
"A-anyway" She gently pulls her hand back "Where are you heading mister Daniel?"
"Just call me Daniel. You're making me feel like an old man." I smile. "And to answer your question, I'm heading to a pub called Hostess of Fertility. I heard the food's supposed to be good there."
Her eyes light up, nodding excitedly. "Oh, you'll love it there! The people there is all kind and the food is great as well!"
"Hm..." I nod
She fidgets slightly, her cheeks flushing a little. "If… if you want, do you want to eat together with me?"
"Really? You don't mind?"
"No, not at all!" She shakes her head, her excitement palpable. "I'd love some company, and it's always more fun to eat with someone else!"
"Alright, then. Let's go together."
With a shared smile, we start heading toward the pub. The lively sounds of laughter and conversation grow louder as we approach. When I finally push the door open, the sight before me is captivating a vibrant mix of adventurers, locals, and colorful characters filling the space.
"Wow," I murmur, taking it all in. "This place is amazing!"
"Right?" she grins, her eyes shining with excitement. "Told you it was the place to be! Let's grab a spot before it gets any more crowded."
Just as we start weaving through the tables to find a seat, a staff member catches sight of us and heads in our direction. She's petite girl with animal ears, curious eyes, and a welcoming smile. Bell, beside me, brightens and waves.
"Hey, Anya-Chan!"
"Hello, Bell! Nya!" she responds cheerfully, the playful inflection in her voice catching me off guard.
Nya? Did I hear that correctly?
"Are you here to eat?" Anya asks, her eyes sparkling as she looks from Mai to me. "And who is this man?"
"This is a friend!" Bell beams, her excitement evident.
I wave at Anya. "I'm Daniel," I say, keeping my tone friendly.
I took a good look at the clothing she is wearing since I was curious.
Curious, I take a good look at her outfit. A maid outfit, huh? It's not every day you see a maid, let alone a catgirl maid. It's the sort of thing any anime fan would probably dream of seeing in real life.
Too bad this is just VR. I've seen the odd maid here and there on other servers, but this is the first time I've seen one in such detail.
"Name's Anya Fromel, nya~!" she chirps, her playful tone adding to her charm. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she glances at Bell. "And is this your boyfriend, Bell-chan?"
Bell's face instantly flushes crimson, and she waves her hands in front of her, flustered. "N-no! W-we just met!"
Anya giggles, her ears twitching at Bell's reaction. "But still, nya... what a strange name." She leans in close, her gaze flicking over me with a curious expression that makes me take a step back in surprise. "You have strange clothing too, nya. Now that I think about it."
I glance down at my jeans and black jacket. It's the kind of outfit I'd wear back home in the modern world, simple and comfortable. Considering everyone else is in medieval attire, maybe it does stand out a bit here.
I'll look at the workshop later if there are any medieval clothes that I can download later.
"Ah… forgive me, it's just what I usually wear back home," I say with a light chuckle, feeling a bit self-conscious. "Guess it does look a little weird here."
Anya waves a hand dismissively, her tail flicking. "It's fine, nya~! Actually, I kinda like it, nya~!"
I can't shake the feeling that I'll never quite get used to her way of speaking. It's playful, almost like a guy trying to cosplay as a girl, adding that cat-like inflection at the end of her sentences.
Just then, Bell furrows her brow, glancing around. "Where's Syr?" she asks, sounding a bit puzzled. Her eyes scan the bustling room as if expecting someone to pop up at any moment.
Anya perks up, her ears twitching with recognition. "She's still cooking and cleaning in the back! She should be done in just a few minutes more, Nyaa!"
Bell nods, a small smile forming on her lips. "Ahh alright."
"Oh yeah, Nyaa! If I may ask, did you know there was a strange flying monster spotted leaving the dungeon, Nyaa?" Anya said
Curiosity piqued, I lean closer to hear more clearly.
"You mean the one that suddenly appeared?" Bell crosses her arms thoughtfully, her brow furrowing as she taps her foot on the ground a few times. "I heard from Eina that the guild was in an uproar the moment they noticed its existence. They've requested adventurers to gather any information regarding it since the monster vanished so quickly."
Just as we were about to continue our conversation, a loud roar came from the back of the pub.
"HEY! Don't just stand around doing nothing you stupid cat girl! hurry up show our customer their seat and help the other!"
I blink in surprise as a huge woman in the back wearing an apron, her eyes practically glowing red as glares at Anya. She's intimidating, to say the least, and I can see Anya trembling beside me.
"Y-yes, nya! Right this way!" Anya stammers, leading us to an empty table near the Auntie before with a nervous smile. Bell and I exchange glances as we sit down, both a bit taken aback by the auntie's intensity.
As soon as we're settled, the auntie crosses her arms and gives me a long, appraising look. "I have never seen you around and you don't look like you're from around here. Where do you come from?"
"I came from the land of the United State" I reply, trying to keep a confident tone.
"The United States?" She narrows her eyes, unimpressed. "Never heard of it. Must be some backwater village."
I feel an imaginary dagger stab my heart. Sure, the United States doesn't exist here, but hearing it called a backwater village still stings a bit.
"Anyways," she grunts, pulling out a notepad. "What are you ordering?"
I give her a nod. "I'll have the pasta—with extra meat. Two servings and some fis please."
She lets out a hearty laugh, clearly approving. "A big eater! My kind of customer!" She glances at Bell with a grin. "And you, sweetheart?"
Bell smiles politely. "Just a warm soup for me, please."
The auntie jots it down, muttering to herself. "One pasta with extra meat, fish, and one warm soup. Got it." She snaps her notepad shut, looking us over one more time. "I'll get this started. You two behave, now." With that, she bustles off, leaving us to settle in.
Seeing an opportunity to get to know Bell a bit better, I decided to strike up a conversation.
"So, which Familia do you belong to?" I ask, keeping it casual, even though I already know the answer. It's a good way to keep the conversation going.
Bell gives a small, slightly bashful smile, coughing softly before replying. "Hestia Familia."
"Hestia… never heard of it," I admit, shrugging. Not that I know much about the gods or the Familias around here anyway since they've never really caught my interest.
Bell chuckles, scratching the back of her head. "Yeah, we're not exactly famous. We're… a bit on the smaller side. And... I am the only member in the Hestia family." Her cheeks flush slightly
I nod thoughtfully "And even though she's a new goddess, seeing how much you're smiling, she must be pretty kind."
Bell mumbles, her cheeks going beet red. "She's… she's the kindest goddess I've ever met."
You know she is really poison for someone like me who rarely smiles and has done some evil stuff, staying near her just going to clean my dark soul.
"Then what about you?" Bell asks, glancing at me with a curious smile. "What kind of Familia did you come from?"
For a moment, I'm silent, mentally scrambling. I haven't joined any Familia, and explaining that might only raise more questions. Should I dodge the question? Make up something?
"Mister?"
"Mister?" Bell's soft voice cuts through my hesitation, and I see the genuine curiosity in her eyes. She's not judging, just… wondering. But still, I'm not sure how much to reveal.
Just as I'm about to blurt out an excuse, the unmistakable clatter of plates hits the table. "Here's your food," the auntie announces, setting down our orders with a huff.
I clear my throat, relieved. "L-look! The food is here," I say, eager to shift the focus. "Let's dig in, and we can talk more later."
"Alright."
I decide to steer clear of the topic entirely. "Here, have some of the fish and pasta, Bell," I offer, pushing the plate toward her.
"R-really? I-is it fine?"
"What? You think I did not notice that you were counting the number of money needed to pay this food?" I said "And besides you're still in the growing stage, you know? You need to eat a lot! Just consider it a necessary adult whim."
"B-but..."
"Look, if you feel conflicted how about once you become a high-level adventure you treat me to a meal?"
"Alright..." she grumbles
"Great! It's settled then,"
As we began munching down the food, a loud bang came from the door nearby
"Mia Grand!! Our VIP Customers have come!"
I turn my head, spotting the Loki Familia as they stride in with an air of confidence. 'So that's the Loki Familia, huh?' I think to myself, trying to recall everything I know about them.
If I remember correctly, the wolf-like member is known for saying some pretty harsh things to Bell Cranel, which usually sends him dashing out to fight monsters.
And that's the beginning story of the Bell Cranel.
But to my surprise, Bell doesn't cower in the corner the moment she notices Ai Walaztine. Instead, she merely glances at them with mild interest before returning to his plate, focused on the food.
Meanwhile, my eyes were instead veering towards the Amazonesses especially their chest.
