Filming On Location!

What have I been up to this week?
Well, I’m shattered, because this week has been pretty overwhelming!
Last Sunday, we released the latest video about Bibby Stockholm and the crisis in the UK asylum system. As ever, the last few days before that went out were a little hectic as we tried our best to polish-up the sound on the video.
Nevertheless, it all went out on time and had a relatively successful launch. I had wondered whether it would be a slightly niche topic, being very UK-focused and more explicitly political (in the sense of being to do with politicians and policy) than my last couple of videos.
But, it seems to have captured the interest of a wide range of viewers, both in the UK and elsewhere in the world and encouraged some healthy (if occasionally somewhat depressing) discussion of the current state of British politics.
The “meat” of the week, however, has been filming my next video, which will be coming out in mid-December.
I won’t give too much away just yet but, all being well, we’re hoping it’s going to be a bit of a blockbuster (in terms of how it looks and sounds, I can’t promise it will go viral!).
The video was filmed on location over two days with all the kit we have at our disposal being thrown at it. And, I think it’s going to look really, really good.
It’s a bit of a fun one to end the year on before we jump back into some heavier stuff towards the beginning of next year but it digs into some fairly interesting theory at least I think.
But more about that soon!
And outside of work?
It’s actually no surprise I’m tired today as the weekend leading into this week was also pretty packed.
Alongside finding some time to put some finishing touches to the script for Monday and Tuesday, I went to a friends’ baby shower and went to support my brother whilst he performed in a community musical in Cornwall!
A very family-oriented few days which was nice!
What have I been reading/watching/listening to?
I’ve just made a start on Naomi Klein’s Doppelganger.
I picked it up in the week it came out with the assumption I was going to start reading it quite quickly, however work got very, very busy and I haven’t had quite as much reading time as I would have liked.
A couple of chapters in and I can see why it’s had such a buzz about it (beyond that usually associated with Klein’s books.
I’ve been thinking about working on some videos around conspiracy and conspiracism for some time (although I’m not sure whether I’ll actually getting round to doing so or not) and I think Klein’s thoughts on why people are drawn to these topics are excellent.
It’s also *excellently* written.
As I say, I’m not super far into it just yet but I feel like this is one I’m going to devour!

Haha, this suit was a result of me searching for one which looked a bit grey and brown and old and boring. However, I actually really like this! I've got my best friends' wedding coming up and I might wear it to that!

Please discuss your (impeccable) taste in suits and how we American particularly can get a bit more of the British tailored look. The thrift store suit jacket and t-shirt doesn’t cut it, everywhere.
