"Oh look! All your favorite shows! I'll get a pack of each so we can coordinate with your clothes!"
"Donny, no!"
He shoots me a look as I cover my mouth. "Fine, then. A case of each."
I moan as he now piles 4-packs of each diaper type onto the flatbed cart.
"Really? Even My Little Unicorn?"
"I think it'll go cute with your pink denim shortalls! Don't worry, bro, we can jazz it up with some striped arm and leg warmers."
This is a new development. He's never dressed me up in pretty pink clothing before. For anyone else shopping around us, it's obvious who all this is for. Instead of making my diapers more discreet, the white cloth shortalls make it even more obvious that I'm back in diapers. And the amount of diapers make it obvious that this is a long-term change.
"What about pull-ups?" I ask.
"Oh, yes! Aww look! They have them in the same cute designs!" He buys a single measly pack of pull-ups.
"What?! Only one?"
"You won't need them very often, kiddo," he says. "Right?"
"W-well, no. I don't need pull ups... OR diapers, really..."
He chuckles and shakes his head. "It's clear you don't know what you need, but let's just see how you do with one pack and we'll go from there."
Hearing this comment steels my resolve. I sit on the floor and cross my arms. "Call Mom and Dad. I don't care."
He looks surprised for a second, then shrugs and pulls out his phone. Before I can stop him, he is face-screening with Mom and Dad. I instantly regret calling his bluff.
"Ricky? Is that you on the floor? What are you doing?" asks Mom. Donovan answers for me.
"He's throwing a tantrum in the middle of the store because he doesn't want to pick up more diapers for his accidents."
"You get up this instant, young man! That's no way to behave in public!" I regretfully have no choice and I stand up immediately. Donovan starts dusting off my butt from all the dust that the light-colored fabric picked up.
"Hold up a second," says Dad. "Let's get a good look at him. Ricky. What are you wearing?"
I blush as I try to cover up my thick diapers, but there is no hiding them from the gaze of the camera. Dad looks thoughtful for a second.
"Hmm, that bad, huh? We thought your wetting problem was getting better but looks like it isn't. Are those new clothes?"
"Yes," interjects Donovan, saving me the embarrassment of answering. "His old ones wouldn't fit over proper diapers. I'm using up the rest of our allowance to get him the clothes and supplies he needs, since he doesn't seem to want to do it himself..."
"Ricky, we left your brother in charge for a reason. You should listen to him and do as he says."
"But Mom, I-"
"No buts. Be a good boy or we'll pull you out of school for a little break."
"But Mom, he's trying to buy a bunch of baby clothes and baby diapers for me!" I hold up some of the more babyish items like the Blarney onesie and shorts, and the Pawsome Squad plastic pants.
"They fit perfectly fine," says Donny, "And they're the only option for a heavy wetter like you."
"Sweetie, your clothes look adorable," says Mom. "If you were here, you'd be wearing those all the time!" Of course I would. I remember high school and how I was treated back then too.
"Let me see," says Dad, taking the phone and holding it close to his eyes. "Well, maybe he's right, Mom. He's in college now, so maybe he can ditch some of it..."
"But these are the only kind of clothes that will fit the kind of diapers he needs. And they all come with snaps so I can check him," says Donovan, putting a hand on one of my arms and grabbing the crotch of my pants with the other. In an instant, he's pulling at my crotch to pop open the snaps and show off my soaking diaper. Soaking diaper?!
"H-hey!" I yell, trying to pull away from my Bro's iron grip, but he won't let go, and I can't get my shortalls buttoned back up without a free arm.
"Oh my gosh. He needs a change already? You see? Those flimsy diapers he had before are useless. He's worse than ever, and these clothes and diapers make it easier for me to look after him like you asked me to..." This is bad. Donovan is making a convincing case and I need to do something about it.
"At least let me get everything in plain colors!!"
"Young man! Indoor voice!" snaps my mom, sternly. "I've heard enough. Donovan, do whatever you think is best. Ricky, if we get another phone call like this, we'll be coming to visit and you won't like it."
"Dad! You can't let this happen!" I appeal to my father. My last hope.
"Donovan," he says, calmly. "See if you can find your brother some more mature looking clothes for class. Maybe you can find some plain colors or something, like what he's wearing. He can wear his favorite shows at home."
"Yes, Dad," said Donovan. "But I think I'm gonna need a little extra allowance..."
"Done."
The conversation is over, and I have lost. But I don't give up.
"Let go of me!" I say, trying to twist away so I can button my shortalls back up and hide my shame, but my brother is to strong. He tugs me away from the scene I've just caused and all the onlookers who are staring.
"You need a change, buddy. Let's go."
