Izuku had the advantage when it came to brute strength, but Katsuki’s reflexes were still miles better, even if Izuku tried to deny it; he just had to react quickly enough to catch Izuku off guard, to stop him from using his strength to prevent Katsuki from responding. He moved his legs to Izuku’s thighs, driving his knees in to keep him in place, but Izuku surged up, tackling Katsuki around the middle and knocking him backwards, swapping their positions once more. For the next few minutes, they rolled around like idiots, fighting to try to get control and failing every time. They’d gotten too used to each other, knew how to counter everything the other might try – even if one of them came up with a new desperate attempt on the spot, somehow the other figured it out immediately.
The battle was over, Katsuki knew, when Izuku tried to tickle him, laughing when he yelped and squirmed away rather than fighting back. He managed to roll onto his stomach, arms locked to his sides to prevent Izuku’s access, but that left him with no way to fight back, no way to counter anything Izuku tried. Izuku just plonked himself down to sit on Katsuki’s ass, weighing him down, and Katsuki couldn’t quite seem to struggle his way to a free limb. Somehow, Izuku’s stupid, playful distraction tactic had actually kind of worked.
“I’m leaving, asshole!” Katsuki announced, face bright red, when Izuku tried to wedge his fingers in to find a ticklish spot. “This isn’t sparring!”
“Don’t be like that,” Izuku laughed. “Come on, let’s go again!”
He rose to his feet, freeing Katsuki to roll over and glare at him, but Katsuki only got another laugh for his attempt at intimidation.
“Oh, it looks like it’s dinner time,” Izuku said, when he glanced up at the gym clock. “Next time, then, or we’ll miss out on food.”
“Fuck you, you cheated.”
“Are we really doing this again?” Izuku asked, sighing.
Katsuki bristled. Okay, sure, Izuku had a point – Katsuki had a habit of complaining when he lost for a stupid reason, even though it didn’t actually matter in the slightest; but that wasn’t the point.
“Come on, Kacchan.”
Izuku leaned over, holding out a hand, and Katsuki grumbled to himself as he watched it extend. He knew he had to take it, he couldn’t cause a repeat of the stupid river fiasco at his grown-ass age, but that didn’t mean he had to like lowering his pride to accept the help.
Just as he was beginning to lift an arm, though, the hand continued, past where it should have stopped to wait for him. It reached for his waist, grabbing the front of his belt, and pulled.
With that one, small motion, Katsuki felt himself lifting, picked up off the ground with one fucking hand like it was the easiest thing Izuku had ever done. And sure, Katsuki knew – had known for a long time – that Izuku was fucking strong. He’d seen him lift couches to vacuum under them without even a second thought, had watched him carry a whole-ass table across the room just to avoid making multiple trips, but he’d never stopped to think about what that meant for him.
When Izuku lifted him in that stupid hand, his whole world went with it.
“What the fuck?” he squawked, thrashing violently and ignoring the cheeky smile on Izuku’s face. “You fucking meathead nerd, put me down!”
He bent his knees to get his tiptoes on the ground, and Izuku shifted him obediently, steadying him back on his feet. He knew his face was still burning, but Izuku just seemed entirely too pleased with himself, especially when Katsuki lashed out again and he dodged it just by twisting his torso slightly to let it skim by.
“Dinner?” Izuku said again, as if he hadn’t just made Katsuki’s brain blue-screen. “I think Kaminari was cooking, so I don’t know how good it’ll be, but I’m starving!”
Katsuki just scowled, but when Izuku started toward the door, he followed obediently. He shifted a step ahead once they were out the door, but apparently Izuku was feeling like a little bitch, because he just took a couple of longer strides to catch back up, walking right by Katsuki’s side. Usually he didn’t care about letting Katsuki be in front, but the prick had apparently decided to push all of Katsuki’s buttons, that day.
As they walked, and Izuku chattered away, Katsuki found himself replaying that stupid hand over and over again in his head, watching it grip him tight and haul him off the ground like a freakin’ child, dangling him helplessly, his arm muscles hardly even tensing, like it was no effort at all. That stupid smug smile he wore as he did it, knowing he’d effectively ended Katsuki’s sulking. The massive hand that wrapped easily around his thick belt, marred by scars that made him look so much stronger and more experienced than he really was. And the ease of it all, it all came back to that, the way he could clearly have carried Katsuki back to the dorms like a fucking suitcase if he’d wanted to.

“I have a crush on you,” Katsuki announced, as easily as if they’d been talking about the weather – it’s gonna rain tomorrow, I’m getting cold, I have a crush on you.
“What?!” Izuku yelped, eyes shooting open wider than Katsuki had ever seen them, his cheeks quickly filling with pink. “What did you just say?!”
“I have a crush on you,” Katsuki repeated, just as easily as the first time. He was no longer blushing, like he had been in the gym, or sulking, or complaining, he was just... stating a fact.
“Since when?!”
“I dunno, since just now?”
“I didn’t even do anything just now!” Izuku protested. “I was just walking! And talking!”
Katsuki shrugged, and Izuku stopped in his tracks, staring at his back as he took another few steps before he realised Izuku wasn’t coming.
“What?” he asked, glancing back over his shoulder. “Don’t ask me, nerd, my brain just went ‘aha’ and I figured I should tell you.”
“Most people try to keep their crushes a secret,” Izuku informed him, face still redder than his stupid, worn out shoes. “They don’t want the person to know.”
“Why? I hate lying.”
“I know you do,” Izuku sighed. “Sorry, this just... threw me. I was not expecting this.”
“S’fine,” Katsuki assured him, shrugging again. “Just figured you should know. You don’t need to say anything, it doesn’t change shit.”
“Really?”
“Why would it?”
Izuku didn’t seem to have an answer for that, so Katsuki kept walking, listening to Izuku’s footsteps behind him, hurrying to catch up again.
“You know I’m obligated to tease you about this, right?” Izuku asked, finally regaining his composure as they headed into the dorms.
“About what?”
Izuku rolled his eyes, and Katsuki just frowned.
“About my crush?” he asked, despite a roomful of classmates immediately turning to look his way.
“Yes, about that,” Izuku answered, somehow blushing more than Katsuki was. “Really, Kacchan?”
“Bakugou has a crush?” Mina demanded, appearing in the kitchen doorway by the time Izuku finished his sentence. “Holy shit, on who?”
“On Izuku, duh,” Katsuki answered, eyebrows knitting together in his confusion. “Why else would I tell him?”
“You told him?!”
Izuku gave him a pointed look, and Katsuki shrugged, shoving past Mina to get to the fridge. He pulled out two pre-made smoothies from that morning, offering one to Izuku.
“No point lying about it,” Katsuki said, glaring when Mina tried to snatch the smoothie for herself – she was always begging him to make her one, the weirdo. “Not like he’s gonna care. Isn’t it a compliment?”
“Having a crush on someone?” Mina asked. “Uh... I guess so, in a way. Like, it must mean you think that person is cool and attractive, right?”
“Izuku? Cool?” Katsuki asked, snorting. “Do you need an optometrist or something?”
“Kacchan!” Izuku squawked, when the room filled with laughter – of course the nosy jerks were all listening in to Katsuki’s business, as usual. “You’re supposed to be nice to the person you like, you know.”
“Ew.”
Izuku just sighed, shoulders slumping as he accepted the smoothie, and apparently his defeat along with it.
“Thanks, Kacchan.”
“Dunno what you’re thanking me for, it’s not like I got a say in my dumbass feelings.”
“I meant for the smoothie.”
“Oh. You’re welcome, then.”
Despite the titters still coming from their classmates, Katsuki just walked through the building like he owned the place, flopping onto a sofa and kicking his feet up to sip his drink and wait for dinner. Considering the mess he’d just seen in the kitchen, he suspected it was gonna be a while.
“How come you never told me?” Kirishima whined, trying to join Katsuki on the couch and only getting shoved off again by Katsuki’s foot. “I thought we were bros!”
“Why would I tell you?”
“Because that’s what friends do! They talk about their secret crushes!”
“Who said it was a secret?”
“Then why didn’t you tell me?!”
“None of your business.”
The honest answer, of course, would have been I didn’t know either, but Katsuki couldn’t be bothered dealing with that conversation. Katsuki was a master of self-awareness and understanding, but no doubt his idiot friends would insist he’d just been oblivious for months, instead of it happening in a moment. Not to mention they’d nag about what that moment was, and Katsuki didn’t want any of them to know that.
“It’s not a big deal,” Katsuki said finally, when Kirishima continued to give him hurt and pleading looks. “No one’s business but mine and his.”
“We could have come up with some big, romantic plan for your confession!”
“Why would I need that?” Katsuki asked, scowling. “I just told him.”
“You don’t think he’d have appreciated something more exciting?!”
Katsuki looked back as Izuku headed their way, tucking his knees up to make room for him.
“Oi, De- Izuku,” he began, as Izuku sat down obediently. “Should I have done some big, stupid thing to tell you?”
“What? No!” Izuku insisted, blushing bright red again. “I don’t want anyone making a big fuss of me like that!”
“See?” Katsuki asked smugly, tilting his knee to prevent Kirishima from squeezing onto the couch in between them. “I know what he wants, I’m a master of this shit.”
“Most people want to, I don’t know, sweep them off their feet! Encourage them to say yes!”
“Yes to what?” Katsuki and Izuku asked in unison.
“To going on a date?”
Izuku pulled a face, and Katsuki just scowled even deeper, glaring at Kirishima stubbornly.
“What the fuck are you on about? I told him I have a crush on him, I didn’t tell him to go on some stupid date with me.”
“You didn’t ask him out?!”
“Kacchan knows I’m not interested in dating anyone,” Izuku explained, before Katsuki could make it worse somehow. “He would never ask that of me. It was sweet of him to let me know he likes me, even if it was super embarrassing.”
“You two deserve each other,” Mina called from the kitchen. “You’re both all kinds of stupid! No offence, Midoriya.”
The rest of the room laughed at them, but Katsuki and Izuku just exchanged a look – no matter what the others thought, they knew it was different, for them. They knew they were in a good place, that Katsuki’s admission had just made them a little closer, a little more connected, and that was what their relationship always needed – connection.
“Whatever.” Katsuki shrugged it off. “Not my fault you extras don’t get it.”

Katsuki was sitting on his bed, freshly showered and changed into his comfy pyjamas, when the knock landed on his door. He sighed to himself, debating if he wanted to just ignore it and pretend he was already asleep, but it definitely wasn’t a Kaminari knock or a Kirishima knock, and if it was a Mina knock then she’d done a good job of containing herself, so he supposed she warranted answering for once. He shuffled across to the door in his warm slippers, pulling it open, and falling still when he saw a twitchy, gaze-averting Izuku waiting for him on the other side.
“Hey Kacchan, sorry to bug you so late.”
“It’s fine,” Katsuki assured him, stepping aside. “Come in.”
He closed and locked the door behind him, watching as Izuku glanced around the room, standing stiffly in the middle of the carpet.
“Come sit down,” he suggested, shifting his pillows to rest against the wall, and sitting back against one. “What’s got your panties in a twist?”
He could see in Izuku’s face that he wanted to complain about the phrase, but he didn’t bother, just shuffled in next to Katsuki on the bed, tucking his knees up to his chest.
“Need something?” Katsuki asked knowingly. “What’s going on?”
“I wanted to ask you something,” Izuku said softly. “But it’s super awkward and I’m not even entirely convinced I should ask, so if the answer is no, can we just forget it ever happened?”
“You told me you were obligated to make fun of me for having a crush on you,” Katsuki pointed out. “Depending on the question, I might be obligated to make fun of you back.”
“We’ll call it even, then.”
“Fine,” Katsuki agreed. “Out with it, nerd.”
Izuku still hesitated, and Katsuki didn’t try to catch his eye – he knew Izuku was far more comfortable not looking at him, in that moment. He wasn’t sure exactly when he’d gotten so good at pandering to the nerd, nor when he’d started caring about it.
“What made you decide you had a crush?” Izuku asked. “Was it when we were sparring?”
“Yeah.”
“Was it, um, something specific? Or just... in general?”
“Both, I guess. It was something specific that triggered it, but nothing has really changed, so I guess it’s been there a while?”
“Do you, um... want to... fool around? With me?”
Katsuki blinked, slowly turning his head to look, finding Izuku’s head ducked in shame.
“You want to?” he clarified. “Or are you just asking for, I don’t know, self-esteem reasons?”
“I want to,” he answered, without hesitation. “I don’t want to date anyone right now, if ever. You know that, I think. But I’m... curious, I guess. And I figured if you have a crush on me, and if it was something... physical, that made the subject come up, then maybe you wouldn’t mind... jerking me off or something? I don’t know.”
Everything in Katsuki’s being was screaming that it was a trap he was falling into, that there was some kind of catch, but honestly he wasn’t even sure he cared. He was willing to cross that bridge when he came to it.
“Sure,” Katsuki said, with feigned confidence. “What’s off-limits?”
“Oh. Uh. I don’t know. Nothing? That I can think of?”
Katsuki raised an eyebrow, and Izuku squeaked nervously.
“I mean, nothing I think you’d try right away! Obviously there are a lot of things that—You know what I mean, right?”
“Yeah,” Katsuki agreed. “Hands?”
“Yeah, hands are good.”
“Over the clothes or under?”
“Oh. Um. Both, I guess?”
“Kissing?”
Izuku paused, but nodded faintly, and Katsuki felt his heart beat faster.
“Yeah, that’s fine,” Izuku said finally. “I think it’d be weird to do... other things, and not kiss.”
Izuku’s lower lip trembled a little as he said it, and Katsuki reached out without thinking, stroking his thumb across it lightly.
“You okay?” he asked. “We don’t have to, you’re the one who asked.”
“I want to!” Izuku assured him, his breaths shallow. “It’s just getting kinda real now and I’m getting a little nervous.”
“It’s okay, we can go slow, and if you want to stop, just say so.”
Katsuki moved his hand away, and suddenly Izuku was kissing him, all nervous and shy and inexplicably adorable, with his lips pressed together way too tightly, like he didn’t trust Katsuki to not take advantage of the moment, or something.
Izuku was kissing him.
He slid a hand around Izuku’s neck, fingers lacing into his hair, and Izuku shivered in his grip, clumsily wrapping a hand around Katsuki’s bicep. Katsuki tried to be patient, but Izuku just sat there awkwardly, like he wasn’t sure what to do with himself, so he tilted his head slightly, fitting them together better for a second, before gently parting from him. His lips tingled where they’d touched Izuku’s, and his hand still rested on the back of Izuku’s neck, and he could tell from the way Izuku relaxed a little, lips twitching toward a smile, that his face had to be ridiculously shocked and stupid for it.
“I thought I’d have to be the one to start,” Katsuki said, a hint of teasing sneaking into his voice.
“I didn’t think you were gonna give me a chance,” Izuku teased right back. “Even right now, I’m sitting here about to do it again, and you’re staring at me like you’re gonna beat me to it.”
“Go on, then.”
Izuku sat up a little straighter, and Katsuki leaned in, letting Izuku cover the last few centimetres to bring them together. He was a little less tense this time, his lips clamped less tightly, and Katsuki took the opportunity to test the waters, letting his tongue move just slightly, to brush across Izuku’s lips. Izuku’s mouth opened, just a little, and Katsuki had to resist the urge to grin like an idiot as they finally fit themselves together properly, relaxing into each other, lips and tongues moving in tandem. If this was what kissing was like, Katsuki could definitely got on board with it – that first one had left him a little uncertain, wondering what the big deal was, but this one?
His fingertips ran across the hem of Izuku’s t-shirt, just barely brushing against bare skin when the fabric shifted, and Izuku finally straightened his legs out, giving Katsuki room to get comfortable against him. He shifted his hand, thumb stroking Izuku’s abs and hip bones, but when his fingers hooked into Izuku’s waistband, he felt him tense up.
“No?” he asked, pausing their slow, soft kisses for a moment. “Too fast?”
“It’s okay,” Izuku assured him. “Just surprised me. I’m not sure how to... you know.”
“I’ve got you,” Katsuki said, though he wasn’t sure where it was coming from – it wasn’t like he had any experience, either. “Just relax.”
He carefully tugged Izuku’s shorts down, then his boxers, giving him one last little peck before he shifted down the bed.
“Kacchan?”
“Shhh.”
Izuku moaned when Katsuki’s tongue came out, licking long and slow up his shaft, pausing to play with the tip a little before he started over again. “No rush,” Katsuki assured him, shifting back up the bed to sit beside him – it seemed like Izuku had other ideas he wanted to try out before it ended, and he was admittedly curious about what they might be, what the nerd had been daydreaming about. “Take your time.”
“Which bit was it?” Izuku asked, when his lungs had recovered. “When I had you pinned to the ground?”
“Fuck you, I could’ve gotten away.”
“Sure,” Izuku humoured him. “I do that a lot, though, so it would be kinda weird if it happened all of a sudden.”
“Shut up, you do not.”
“Come on, Kacchan, I just want to know what you liked so much.”
Katsuki felt his face burn as he remembered it, but he clamped his mouth shut, refused to admit to any of it out loud.
“Alright, have it your way,” Izuku said, a little amused. “I’ll figure it out myself.”
He slung a leg over Katsuki, straddling his lap, and Katsuki immediately reached for him, wrapping his hands around Izuku’s thighs. They were so damn thick, he’d never understood how it was possible, but with the way he knelt over Katsuki, he could feel every curve of taut muscle under his touch, strong enough to crush him if he’d been especially determined to do so.

“Better?” Izuku teased, clearly feeling the half-hearted struggle. “I bet you’d love it if I just held you down and fucked you, face in the pillow where you can’t do anything about it.”
Katsuki whined, quickly swallowing it down like Izuku might not have noticed, but Izuku’s low chuckle told him it had been loud and clear.
“Or hold you against a wall, with nowhere to go, while I just thrust into your little hole.”
