Flirting With Disaster [Chapter 6]
🕑 Added 2025-07-08 09:00:07 +0000 UTC“Provisional license!” Izuku yelled, darting past the Pros with their hands full and heading for an overturned bus. “Kacchan, watch my back!”
“Don’t tell me what to do, nerd.”
Two other people around their age were already on scene, attempting to keep the villains away from the injured civilians, but Izuku could tell it wasn’t going to last long. They were clearly lacking the experience he and Katsuki had, and he wasn’t entirely sure if he envied them for that or not. Experience was great and all, but it was probably nice to not spend your teen years terrorised by a supervillain and his friends.
Izuku grunted as he yanked at twisted metal, trying his best to make an opening in the bus without jostling any injured passengers too much. It would have been great to just get Katsuki to blast them a hole, but Izuku was way too conscious of the smell of fuel around them, and his own lack of knowledge about bus anatomy – he was gonna have to remedy that over the weekend.
“Fuel leak, Kacchan!” he called, even though he was sure Katsuki had noticed already. “Watch your aim, okay?”
“My aim is fuckin’ perfect!” Katsuki argued, launching himself at a villain who came too close to their rescue attempt. “Die!”
“Me or the villain?” he couldn’t help but ask, as he wrenched back the mangled door that now pointed at the sky, and started helping shaken civilians evacuate through the hole.
“Both!”
One of the teenagers quickly joined him, escorting a group of mostly-uninjured people toward the police barricades, but the other one held her ground, trying to pretend her knees weren’t shaking as she warned the villains back. Izuku admired the bravery, but he really wished she’d just come help him out instead – Katsuki already had the villains covered, he didn’t need some inexperienced kid helping him out.
“I’ve got you,” Izuku said calmly, as he helped scoop a bawling toddler out of the wreckage. “You’re okay now, I’m here.”
He held the kid carefully in his arms while his mother climbed out after him, babbling frantic gratitude to Izuku the whole way, and he just smiled through his mask when she finally reached solid ground, looking up at him with eyes full of tears.
“Are you okay?” he asked. “Are you hurt?”
“I’m okay,” she assured him. “Thank you so much for your help.”
“I’m glad I was here. Can you carry him? Or would you like me to bring him?”
“I can take him, thank you so much.”
He carefully handed the boy over, letting his mother cradle him in her arms, and he pointed at the little leg dripping blood onto her shirt.
“There’s a medical tent set up just beyond the barricades, they can get him cleaned up and bandaged for you, and help you find a way home. Be careful, stay safe.” He looked up as the other teenager returned to escort another group, pulling a face. “Sorry, I didn’t catch your name.”
“Hochi,” the boy told him. “What can I help with?”
“You’re doing great, Hochi-san,” Izuku smiled warmly. “This group is ready to head over, if you can keep escorting them!”
“Of course! Come on, everyone, I’ve got you!”
He ushered the next group of civilians away, keeping a diligent eye out for any villains getting too close, and Izuku smiled softly as he climbed into the vehicle, heading for the few passengers left who couldn’t evacuate under their own steam. They seemed surprisingly calm, considering the circumstances, and Izuku did his best to remain the same.
“It’s stuck,” one of the ladies squeaked, her tone betraying her true panic. “What do I do?”
“You’re okay,” Izuku assured her, glancing at the chunk of metal in her thigh, partially obscured by a bloody coat. “We’re just gonna brace it there and wrap it up, then I’ll take you to the paramedics and they can remove it for you safely. You’ve done such a good job with it so far, well done!”
“I always heard you shouldn’t pull it out,” her friend explained. “But she can’t move like this so I wasn’t sure.”
“Exactly right, you were perfect. Here, I’ve got you.”
He squeezed through the metal above her thigh, cutting it off to make her slightly more mobile. The coat he left where it was, but he pulled a few first aid supplies from his belt, too, bandaging everything in place to help keep it still.
“We’re gonna move really slowly so it doesn’t wiggle and hurt you more,” he continued, sliding an arm under her knee. “Just keep calm, you’re doing great.”
“Is everything okay in there?” Hochi called, leaning through the hole to catch a glimpse of them. “Can I help at all?”
“Can you call for a stretcher?” Izuku requested. “She’s just got some metal in her leg, so we don’t want to jostle it.”
“Will do!”
Hochi ran off, and Izuku was a little impressed as he heard the footsteps move away – kid was quick, athletic – had put some effort into training, clearly. Izuku made a mental note to compliment him later on his work.
Izuku sent the friend on ahead, letting her climb out first, then carefully positioned himself under the clearest part of the hole, tightening his grip on the injured lady.
“Hold on tight,” he warned her.
With a quick push of his Quirk, he rose up out of the wreckage, diverting his course mid-air to land on the ground. Hochi kept the friend carefully behind his back, just in case, and Izuku smiled at him gratefully.
“Thanks for coming so quickly,” he said, when the medics rushed over with a stretcher in hand. “Take good care of her for me, okay?”
“Of course, Sir. Thank you for your work here.”
“I’ll go with them,” Hochi assured him. “You focus on things here.”
“Thank you for your help, Hochi-san! We’ve gotta work together again one day, okay? I’m Deku!”
“I know,” he smiled softly. “It was a pleasure. I look forward to working with you again.”
He followed the medics away, the lady’s friend still at his side, and Izuku finally turned his attention to the battle raging behind him. With his help, and a few others’, all the civilians seemed to finally have gotten to safety, leaving the heroes more room to navigate and fight without stressing about hurting the people around them. In fact, Izuku was wondering if he and Katsuki should back off too, being provisional heroes only, when a scream rang out.
He whipped around to find the source, Quirk already buzzing as he prepared to move, but then he heard the familiar explosions and watched Katsuki rocket in out of nowhere, putting himself between the girl and the villain about to grab her, blasting him clear across the street with barely a sweat broken.
“Don’t get involved in shit you can’t handle!” Katsuki barked, already bracing himself for another shot, even though one of the Pros had picked up the fight in his place.
“I was trying to help!” the girl argued. “I have a provisional license too!”
“Haaah? How the fuck did you get that?” Katsuki demanded, and Izuku had to hold back a chuckle at the tone. “If you want to help do it by staying out of the way, idiot!”
Izuku hurried over to help defuse the situation, but when he saw the girl’s face, he froze, blinking at her in shock. The police were moving in, carting away restrained villains; the Pros were finally relaxing and taking care of a few injuries of their own; and the crowds were beginning to disperse, the police ushering them away and taking down the barricades. All Izuku could do, though, was stare at the girl arguing with Katsuki, bristling a little at how close together the pair were standing.
“There you are,” Katsuki huffed, when he caught Izuku staring. “Took you long enough.”
He hooked a thumb under his mask, pulling it up to let his face cool off, and a spark of recognition shot through the girl’s eyes when she saw the familiar face beneath the costume.
“Bakugou! Hi! It’s been so long!” she gushed, her annoyance and arguments gone in an instant. “Look at you! Oh my gosh! That was you? You’re so strong!”
Katsuki didn’t even acknowledge the words, too busy eyeing Izuku up and down, inspecting him for any sign of wounds or injuries.
“Let me see you,” he demanded, reaching for Izuku’s hood and flicking it off to hang down his back. “You do anything stupid?”
“Nothing, I promise,” Izuku chuckled. “I got the bus passengers out!”
“Good.”
“M-Midoriya?” the girl choked out, eyes wide. “That was-? Wow! You’ve come a long way, huh?”
“It’s good to see you again,” he said quietly, lying through his teeth, “Are you okay?”
“I am now! Bakugou saved me! Wasn’t he so cool?”
“Alright, you look okay,” Katsuki finished, satisfied. “You ready to go?”
He kissed Izuku’s forehead as he asked, and Izuku blushed bright red, the girl’s jaw dropping and leaving her silent – for once.
“Who the hell are you?” Katsuki asked, finally spotting the gawking girl, her eyes flitting back and forth between them like they were playing the world’s quickest tennis match.
“Kacchan,” Izuku warned. “You just saved her from that villain, and we went to middle school together, don’t you remember?”
Katsuki shrugged, jerking his thumb at the medical tent in the distance, not even meeting her eyes.
“Go get yourself checked out,” he instructed. “They’ll be ready for you by now.”
Katsuki took Izuku by the hand, leading him toward the school gates they’d been heading for when shit went down. It had been convenient timing, really, that they’d been on their way back from work studies, still in costume, when the group of villains had appeared. They’d heard the commotion from a couple of streets away and made a run for it, leaping over panicked civilians, arriving just in time to see the bus tumbling to a stop and the villains making a beeline for it. He hadn’t expected to run into an old classmate there, especially one so...
Well, she wasn’t exactly at the top of the list of people Izuku would like to run into randomly.
“You must have been training so hard!” that voice chimed from Katsuki’s other side. “You were so quick, you must have moved before I even saw him coming! And so strong, I never saw your explosions get that big before!”
Katsuki just rolled his eyes, and Izuku couldn’t help but smile faintly.
“Kacchan, you remember Imiko?” he prompted, his guilt weighing out over his selfish urges.
“Should I?”
“You’re so funny!” Imiko giggled. “It’s good to see you, Bakugou!”
Katsuki raised an eyebrow, but didn’t bother to argue, shrugging it off as weird girl shit like he usually did. It brought back a lot of weird memories, of Katsuki letting her get close when no one else could, of him putting up with her blabbering while he yelled at others for it.
It wasn’t until they got to the U.A. gates that they managed to shake her off, when her lack of ID refused her entry. Izuku said goodbye politely, smiling and waving as she insisted Katsuki “call her to catch up some time”, only getting a grunt in return that neither confirmed nor denied. She still stood at the gates, though, waving goodbye to a guy who didn’t even look back, while Izuku gave her a sheepish smile over his shoulder.
“What’re you so quiet about?” Katsuki huffed, when they got close to the dorms. “That bus land on your tongue or some shit?”
“I’m fine! That just, um, brought back memories, you know?”
“What’re you talking about?”
“Well, she used to flirt with you all the time, and you never seemed to mind it, so I guess I just... Started feeling a little possessive, or something.”
Katsuki smirked at him, all sharp-toothed and conceited, and Izuku groaned as he shoved him pointedly.
“Cut that out,” he whined. “You know what I mean.”
“What’s all this flirting shit you’re spouting?”
“You don’t remember?”
“That shit never happened.”
“Kacchan. I know you’re not stupid, come on. She was all over you in middle school.”
“Says who?”
“Says anyone with eyes!”
Katsuki just raised an eyebrow at him, and Izuku pouted.
“Are you serious? She was always hanging around you, and stroking your arm, and texting you... and you never stopped her, you seemed to... like it.”
“Haah? Newsflash, nerd-ass, I’m gay, why the fuck would I like that?”
“Because you like being the centre of attention!”
“Not with girls. Gross!”
“What are you, a toddler?”
Katsuki punched him lightly, and Izuku shoved him back, grinning as they dissolved into a stupid, giggly, slap-fight.
“Is that why you got all weird that one time?”
“Weird?” Izuku asked, frowning slightly. “Weird how?”
“Stopped following me around and shit, kept avoiding me on the way to school.”
“You knew I was avoiding you?”
“Fuckin’ obviously, nerd! You go from following me around twenty-four seven and following those same stupid daily routines to suddenly being all out of whack and never around? Thought you’d died the first time you weren’t at our corner at the usual time.”
Izuku just stared at him, silent, until Katsuki finally cracked and asked.
“Spit it out.”
“Our corner?” he echoed. “You called it...”
Katsuki blushed, turning away quickly in an attempt to hide it, and Izuku couldn’t help but grin as he flung his arms around Katsuki’s waist. It felt so validating to hear that Katsuki had thought of it the same way he did.
“I love you,” he mumbled into Katsuki’s back. “Thank you for choosing me.”
“You didn’t give me much choice,” Katsuki snorted, placing a hand over Izuku’s all the same. “I couldn’t get rid of you if I tried.”
“We just talked about this.”
“And it lasted what, a month? Before you came back in full force?”
“Because she was a jerk! She threatened me!”
“Haaah?! What the fuck?!”
“I don’t know! She was going on about how it was weird that I don’t get mugged more often, it was super weird!”
Katsuki paused, and Izuku just waited patiently, letting him sift through his thoughts and get them all in order.
“She asked me once too,” he said finally, Izuku’s eyes widening behind him. “Because I walked home with you.”
“She asked me about that as well. I said we didn’t walk together we just lived the same way.”
“Haah? We abso-fucking-lutely walked together.”
“Not in middle school! You always yelled at me to stop staring and following you!”
“But I still waited for your ass!”
Izuku’s jaw dropped, and he spun Katsuki around to look at him, to catch a glimpse of his pink face.
“Is that why you were always there?” he asked quietly. “I thought it was just a weird coincidence, but you were waiting for me?”
“Obviously, idiot,” he huffed, refusing to meet Izuku’s eyes. “It was fuckin’ infuriating, always getting there an hour early and waiting for your ass to show up at the last fuckin’ minute.”
“I kept leaving later because you were always there!”
“Next time you want to avoid me, try telling me, asshole.”
“I didn’t want to avoid you!” Izuku insisted. “I just... felt like you’d be better off without me. If I wasn’t always getting in your way and annoying you, it would be less stress in your life. Being the top hero was already gonna be stressful, without me making it worse.”
“At least you’re finally admitting I’m gonna beat you.”
“Not anymore!” Izuku laughed, pressing his face into Katsuki’s chest this time and hoping his middle school self was somehow watching. “Now I’m gonna be the best, so it’s okay if I stress you out a little!”
“Like hell you are!”
Katsuki grabbed him by the hair, dragging him off despite his whines and giggles, and with a surprisingly soft look on his face, he shoved Izuku through the front door.
“Hey! You guys okay?!” Eijirou called, rushing over to see them. “We saw you on the news!”
“Right place at the right time,” Izuku grinned. “Everyone is safe!”
“I’m so glad! You guys did awesome!”
“We’re busy,” Katsuki cut in, tugging Izuku toward the elevator by his shirt. “Later.”
“Oh! Yeah, of course!” Eijirou grinned. “Go shower and everything, you deserve to relax! Sato is cooking dinner for everyone, so come down later for some good eats!”
“Maybe.”
Izuku smiled faintly when Katsuki finally freed him in the elevator, grabbing him by the hand instead, and he squeezed lightly to acknowledge the touch.
“Wanna shower together?” he suggested, unable to hold back the cheeky smile that came with it.
“Fuck showering, I’m gonna fuck you so hard you can’t walk straight.”
“Well, nothing else about me is straight, so I guess that’s fair!”
Katsuki just smirked, refusing to fully acknowledge the stupid joke, and when the elevator dinged for Katsuki’s floor, he led Izuku down the hall by the hand. It certainly wasn’t the first time they’d screwed after a good fight, with their adrenalin still pumping and all, but he’d never seen Katsuki quite so determined before.
“This makes a change,” Izuku teased, when Katsuki shoved him at the bed. “Usually it’s me getting clingy after Imiko is around.”
“Who?”
“Kacchan.”
Katsuki just smirked, dragging the zip down on Izuku’s jumpsuit, and Izuku wiggled himself out of it obediently. It was a weird relief to shed it, letting cool air touch his flushed, sweaty skin, but Katsuki didn’t give him any time to enjoy it. The moment it was off, Katsuki was over top of him on the bed, on his hands and knees, leaning in to bite at Izuku’s neck.
“You’re such a weirdo,” Izuku laughed, reaching up to wrap his arms around Katsuki’s neck. “Take your pants off.”
“I will if you do.”
Izuku wiggled his bare legs pointedly, only a pair of slightly-damp boxers still keeping him covered, but still Katsuki reached for them, first, tearing them off Izuku’s legs to leave him completely naked.
“Not fair,” Izuku whined, sliding his hands under Katsuki’s shirt. “Come on, Kacchan, let me perv.”
“Be good for me,” Katsuki instructed, pinning Izuku’s hand to the mattress just to see him whine.
“Kacchaaaaan,” Izuku complained, never one to disappoint. “Let me see your pecs, they always look so good after a fight.”
“Now who’s the weirdo?” Katsuki snorted, relinquishing his shirt all the same. “Creepy little nerd.”
“You know it,” Izuku agreed, happily shifting his hands to Katsuki’s chest. “Mmm, so good.”
Izuku’s phone buzzed on the bedside table, and he rolled over to grab it before Katsuki could outright explode it, ready to silence it and quickly get back to work, albeit with some form of apology required. Instead, he found himself staring at the screen, quickly fumbling to unlock it and find his calendar app.
“What?” Katsuki asked, exasperated. “One of the extras having another crisis?”
“No!” Izuku said, eyes widening. “Kacchan, happy anniversary!”
Katsuki was silent for a moment, but finally, he shook his head.
“No it’s not, nerd.”
“It is!” Izuku assured him, turning his calendar around to show him. “Look, today is when I first blew you!”
“That is not how anniversaries work.”
Katsuki snatched the phone, and Izuku felt his face turn a little pink as he watched him scroll, eyebrows knitting together as one by one he found first kiss, then first hand job, and first date. He knew when Katsuki had reached first time bottoming and first time topping from the smirk that spread across his lips, the two little reminders less than twenty-four hours apart.
He had no excuses for that, really.
“Fine,” Katsuki said finally, chucking Izuku’s phone back onto the table with a clatter. “Guess you’d better do it again, then.”
Izuku laughed, but he nodded all the same, finally tearing Katsuki’s pants off him as they fell back onto the mattress together.
“Yeah,” he said with a grin. “Guess I’d better.”
