That's not a bug. You have to plan ahead.
There's a bug with the backrooms where you clip the wire for the fan to go to the other side of the backrooms and if you end up back on the starting side or die the fan turns back on and you can't progress. Also the drill killer is too fast to outrun on medium difficulty so if you cant dodge the killer and you're on the other side of the backrooms you just lose and have to restart.
