I looked at her, still breathless. The same goddess who had ridden me in a haze of pleasure just minutes ago… was now staring at the aftermath of our choices, her back pressed to fractured stone, her legs still trembling from where she’d straddled me.
“We are,” I said simply, voice rough. “We have crossed the line.”
And I didn’t regret it.
But even I could feel the consequences of what we’d done. Not just the bond. Not just the sin. The impact.
“I guess that’s what made the cave collapse,” I continued, pulling my gaze from her to the walls that now looked like they were webbed in cracks, glowing like they were about to burst. “This place was balanced. Divine and demonic energy held in perfect tension. And we just crushed that balance by merging what shouldn’t be merged.”
I exhaled sharply, rubbing a hand down my face. “It needs a balanced power to crush it. That’s us.”
But it wasn’t just the collapse.
It was the scent.
It had thickened around us, curling like smoke, sweet and sharp and ancient—familiar in a way that set my teeth on edge.
And yet I couldn’t place it.
“Also, the scent…” I muttered under my breath. “It’s familiar. But not really. Like I’ve smelled it before, just… not here. Not like this.”
She lifted her head slightly, brows knitting. “I feel the same,” she said slowly. “I’ve smelled this before. I know I have. But I can’t remember where.”
My eyes snapped to hers. “You have?”
She nodded, biting her lip. “A long time ago. It was brief… but strong. It stuck with me.”
I clenched my fists. My mind was swimming again. Too many layers. Too many unanswered questions.
“We’ll figure that out later,” I said, shaking off the dizziness building behind my eyes. “We can’t think straight here. Not with this scent. Not when it makes us feel like we’re…” I stopped my words since I wanted to say horny, but I decided to hold it.
I pushed off the ground and stood. My muscles ached, not from fatigue, but from restraint. Power still surged beneath my skin. My core pulsed low in my chest, hot with energy.
I turned to her.
“We need to crush it,” I said firmly. “Whatever this place is, whatever it's becoming—it won’t stop until we put it down.”
She nodded slowly, determination flickering behind her eyes again. The warrior returning. She tried to stand—braced one hand on the cave wall, one foot steady beneath her.
But the moment she shifted her weight, her knee gave out.
She fell.
“Puriel,” I moved instantly.
I caught her before she could hit the ground, wrapping an arm around her waist.
Her body trembled. Her legs shook like they’d stopped listening to her entirely. She blinked fast, flustered, frustrated.
“I’m fine,” she muttered.
But my eyes caught it.
The red.
Dark and streaked with white—between her thighs, pooling in glistening trails across her inner legs. Her virgin blood, now mixed with my seed. Staining the inside of her.
She looked down.
Touched the liquid with two fingers.
And the look in her eyes… wasn’t shame. Wasn’t regret.
It was something heavier.
Almost mournful.
Like she was watching a part of herself being given away forever. Or maybe… lost. Something sacred that had been held for centuries.
“Puriel…” I said gently.
She didn’t speak.
Didn’t cry.
Just looked at her stained hand and slowly clenched it into a fist.
A goddess thing, maybe. A divine logic I couldn’t understand. But I knew this much, whatever she just let go of, she wasn’t taking it lightly.
I stepped in close and scooped her into my arms. Carefully. Like she was glass I wasn’t allowed to break anymore. My body wrapped around hers, her head against my chest, her arms hesitating before finally curling around my neck.
I carried her like a bride in a ruined world.
“You’re not alone,” I whispered. “We started this together. So we destroy it together.”
She nodded against my shoulder.
Our gazes shifted in the same instant—to the largest crack. It spiderwebbed across the cave wall ahead, glowing with unstable energy, wide enough to almost breathe. It pulsed with a heartbeat that wasn’t ours. Something behind it… waiting. Watching.
My claws flexed.
“Let’s finish this.”
She didn’t speak, but I felt her mana stir.
And just like that… we moved as one.
I set her down carefully, her feet finally steady beneath her, though she leaned into my side for balance. Her divine energy swirled to life—wings flickering with golden light, her hand raised and glowing with condensed holy fire, humming with restraint barely held back.
I stepped forward beside her.
My core flared again. My wrath tentacles uncoiled behind me, not in rage, not in hunger—in precision. Controlled destruction.
And I aimed them all at the largest fracture.
We didn’t need to speak.
She raised her arm. I raised mine. Her halo sharpened into a disk of radiance; my tentacles flared with molten edges. The scent in the air curled tighter—thicker, almost vibrating now, like whatever was behind the crack knew it was about to be torn open.
And we struck.
Her divine beam lanced forward, a roaring column of light that cracked the air, purging the mana in its path.
My tentacles shot forward with brutal speed, slamming into the fissure with full demonic force—no restraint. No hesitation. Just raw wrath.
And this time?
It worked.
The crack didn’t hold.
It screamed.
Not in sound—but in sensation. The air pulled inward, reality distorting. The entire cave trembled violently as the energy behind the crack surged outward like a vortex, consuming everything it touched.
Stone shattered.
Walls split.
We were yanked off our feet.
And then the floor vanished beneath us.
I felt her hand grab mine in the last second, her wings curling around her body, and my tentacles reached to shield us both—just as the light exploded.
And we were sucked out.
Spinning.
Falling.
Through the crack.
Through space.
Through something that wasn’t a tunnel, or a void, or a realm I recognized—just motion and heat and mana screaming past us like a windstorm full of memories and instincts.
Until we hit the ground.
Hard.
Somewhere new.
