BAS Liz Short - Progress Report #1
🕑 Added 2019-10-04 07:54:25 +0000 UTCHello again, all you beautiful people! It feels like just the other day that we last spoke! I wonder why that is...
As promised, here is the first weekly progress report on the BAS Liz short. And, in true Aardvark style, it is fashionably late, at a cool 12:36AM on Friday morning as I write this sentence out.
The screenplay has undergone a fair bit of tuning since the version I posted, which I believe was either revision 2 or revision 3. The current count is revision 5, and beyond some minor tweaks to wording, two significant changes take the form of entirely rewriting the penultimate sequence, and adding a brief post-credits sequence.
The rewrite of the penultimate sequence was a result of a few people fairly pointing out to me, as they gave me their opinions on it, that Elizabeth pulling out the smuggled rifle is not only very discontiguous, but actively contradicts the premise of the short: that Elizabeth's already tried using guns, and it resulted in her getting killed - so she's looking for a way to get what she wants without using guns.
The new sequence is much more consistent, and is tighter to boot (much like Elizabeth's booty). It fleshes out the Shopkeep as a disgruntled fashionista with aspirations to join high society; and with Elizabeth tempting him with a bluff about being personally acquainted with Sander Cohen, it both ties more deeply into established Bioshock lore, and also deepens Elizabeth's character as being unashamedly deceitful and manipulative when she needs to be.
That latest revision is attached to this post, for people to read at their pleasure and discuss in the comments below. This should be the last revision, especially given that I have bolted it down and sent out lines to be recorded - and indeed, have already gotten some audio back from it.
On the subject of, I have three of the four characters cast: Elizabeth is being played by the breathtakingly talented SilkyMilk, and Robert and Rosalind are being voiced by wonderful people who aren't strangers to the scene, but are first-timers when it comes to working with me. The Shopkeep is in the final stages of casting; I admit that I dragged my feet a bit when it comes to casting him, but figured that since he is an original character, finding a good voice for him should be easier than the other three. And so far, that's proven true - so while he is farthest behind, his casting is also being the fastest by a far margin.
Finally, I've finished just shy of half of the sex animations. I did the anal sequences first, because they are more narratively sensitive, with the positioning being important for the sequence of her examining the crates while getting bumfucked. I was going to tackle the titfucking sequences today, but things came up that ended up taking pretty much the entire day.
I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow, but if not, then I will likely cancel Saturday's stream and get it done then. The reason for that urgency is Silky will be out of town from the 9th to the 18th, which throws a wrench in my plans of having the animations sent out for dubbing on the 7th. So I am trying to get everything done by the 5th - which just so happens to be Saturday.
I think that's all for now! With any luck, next week's update will have all of the sex animation done and sent out for dubbing, will have most - if not all - of the non-sex audio recorded and back to me, and have made headway on the narrative animation.
Until next time, everyone!
