Surrosluts - Progress Report #1
🕑 Added 2019-12-06 09:57:19 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
After not even 2 weeks, we're back at it again with more production. December's short is now Surrosluts - and if you're curious whatever happened to the original December short, or what the heck Surrosluts is, then I have a Misc Bin post that goes into detail - and has a screenplay for you to read!
To say that this week has been a bit chaotic would be a bit of an understatement. I've spent it brainstorming this new project, writing it out, collecting references for it, organizing both voice talent and technical talent for it, putting together some graphical elements for it, editing and revising the screenplay, and putting together all of the base poses. All at the same time.
In a nutshell, I've compressed 2 weeks' worth of preproduction and a week's worth of production into the past 6 days.
But that's just the way the cookie crumbles. All of the base poses are done now. In total, there are 73 unique camera angles for this sex sequence. Making the hugely inaccurate assumption that no one should take seriously, of each angle getting exactly 7 seconds of screen-time, then that means that the sex scene alone would come out to 8:31, exactly 1 second past 8 and a half minutes of nonstop sex.
Again, though, I can not stress this enough:
That 8.5 minutes is based off a hugely inaccurate assumption of 7 seconds per camera angle.
The final runtime might be drastically different than that, and it could swing either way. I honestly don't have the faintest clue what the final time projection will be for the sex sequence, and I won't have a clue until I have animated and paced it all out.
But what I can give you are some juicy statistics. Here are all of the "stages" of the project, broken down both by number of shots, and the percentage of the video it takes up (against all shots).
Narrative Wind-Up: 2 shots (2%)
Pre-Sex Teasing: 6 shots (6%)
Sex: 73 shots (78%)
Post-Sex Teasing: 3 shots (3%)
Narrative Spin-Down: 5 shots (5%)
Bonus Scene: 5 shot (5%)
====
Total: 94 shots (100%)
And some additional stats: In total, we see a whopping 18 guys fuck each of the ladies. This number's a bit wishy-washy since it includes some handjobs (which you may or may not want to include as really fucking the ladies), and excludes the fact there is some swapping in and out within some of the shots. But 18 is a fair number I think.
And unlike No Gods, No Kings, most all of these guys bust a nut. Much to the ladies' very vocal satisfaction. And not a single one speaks a word. Yes, I do actually read your guys' feedback! Though these decisions were more for myself than for anyone else - I only have this month to put everything together, so a lot of compromises had to be made on the elaborate storytelling front.
So, with all of that being said, let's break down what my current schedule for this project is:
December 6 - Begin audio recordings. I plan to have the final version of the screenplay hammered down and ready to be sent off to Innie and Milly by Friday evening. Due to the unique way that this project is put together, I think all of the dialogue audio can be recorded without needing the animations. Which will speed up production time drastically, because it means only the sex sounds themselves will need the animations. Which means I shouldn't need to guess any timings, and can just get the sex animation audio installed in one fell swoop once it comes back in.
===
December 6 and 7 - Scenebuilding. These are Friday and Saturday, which as I have described before are soft-dead days for me, because I spend Friday running around doing chores and Saturday is spent streaming. But I think I can put together the scenebuilds for this scene. There's only 2 scenes needed total.
===
December 8 to December 15 - Animating. This is Sunday to Sunday, so it includes two dead days (Friday and Saturday). This effectively gives me 5 fulls day to build 16 sex animations (8 scenes, 2 sex animations per) and animate a total of 44 characters (18 guys per lady total = 36 guys total, plus 2 ladies for each scene = 8 ladies total). It's a huge task, and if there are any delays, it's going to be here. Especially since I also have to animate all of the finishers too, though thankfully those are mostly pretty simple (with the exception of the finale bukkake, they are all internal cumshots, which are pretty straightforward to animate).
I am hoping that with all of the base posing already done, the animations will go pretty quickly. If I can get 2 sequences' core animations done a day, then that will get all 8 sequences done by Thursday, giving me the half-days and Sunday to get all of the finishers done.
I'm not going to lie you guys. This is stupidly optimistic. But I live on optimism. We won't know it won't work until it doesn't work. So we're going to stick to this schedule.
===
December 15 - Begin dub recording. Once the last animation is done, I will quickly cut out a final pacing for the video and send it off to dubbing.
===
December 16 to December 22 - Build narrative animations & lip-sync. Honestly, this should be way more time than I need. Counting everything that isn't a straight-up sex scene, there's only 21 narrative shots in total. There's a bit more for lip-syncing, since I will have the sex-scene dialogue installed, too. But I'll be surprised if I can't get all of this work done in a week.
For comparison, the shop sequence in No Gods, No Kings by itself is 18 shots. And it took me maybe 2 days total to put that together. So all things being equal, this should be a lot of overkill time-wise. The only reason the range is so long is because of the next bit on the schedule.
===
December 22 - Begin sound design. I always like to give my voice talent a full 7 days to record dub audio. That's why the previous section took so long, because during that time we are waiting for dub audio. Once I have that, I should have everything in place to send off to my sound designer to work his magic.
===
December 31 - Release onto early access! That's the hope, anyways...
So that's the schedule. As always, we'll see how things actually go. There's a long distance to cover when going from theory to practice. Once that pesky thing called "life" gets in the way, we'll see how things shake out.
And as always, I will keep you all updated on how things are going with these Thursday progress reports. Even if they occasionally, like this one, come in at 2am on Friday...
If this sounds like a lot of work, well... It is. But also remember that this is me drastically cutting down and simplifying my writing process. The original December short was much longer than this, narratively speaking. And actually has a comparable amount of sex sequences (6, compared to the 8 here), though admittedly with far less actors.
So yeah. Let's see if we can end this year on a right and proper BANG! You didn't think we'd go this far without a terrible pun, did you?
With all that being said, see you all next week!
