Phazon Addendum B - Progress Report #1
🕑 Added 2020-06-05 08:13:28 +0000 UTCHello, everyone!
It's the first Thursday of the month (give or take a few hours), and I think you all know what means. That's right, it's time for the first Progress Report of the project!
If you've read the screenplay, then you are likely already aware of the fact that this project's sex sequence is a bit different than the others. Seeing as it is part of a montage, with multiple sex sequences sprinkled throughout other sequences demonstrating the tedium of Samus' day-to-day, that gives me a unique opportunity: a total lack of continuity.
This translates to me being able to take all of the energy that would be used in making unique animations and transitions, and instead redirect it to just making loops. Every loop gets a different shot, a different location in space, a different male - in other words, everything is fully independent.
It's been a while since I've been able to just go ham making loops, and boy howdy, have I been enjoying it! I've made 7 animations since Monday, and honestly I could have made more, but today was a bit of an off day (that being said, I did manage to make 3 today, so... not that off, I suppose!)
As the screenplay suggests, I have no idea how many of these I am going to make. My plan is to just spend a full week making as many loops as I can. Once 11:59PM on Monday the 8th rolls around, I am calling it on making loops, and will move onward to the rest of the production.
On the subject of the rest of the production, the screenplay has only been out a few days, and I've already gotten some audio back! I haven't gone through it yet and checked for retakes, but Ivan E Recshun has gotten me audio for the three minor male roles (the random guy Samus first fucks, and the two bureaucrats), and Cougar has sent in his audio for his reprisal of the role of Scientist (now named Theo)!
Milly Stern is similarly reprising her role as Female Scientist (Gizelle), and of course InsideIncognita, who is my co-writer for this project, is reprising her role as everyone's favorite bounty hunter. I don't have ETAs on their audio yet, but I suspect that it'll be before next Thursday's progress report.
Speaking of Innie being my co-writer, I do want to point out that the order the animations are shown in this previous aren't necessarily the order they will be in the final project. Once I have all of the animations made, Innie and I are going to go through them and sort them out into a final order. Recall that the montage sequence has Samus become progressively less and less enthused with the sex, and we want to do our best to sort (and modify) the sequences such that the least-interesting positions are paired with the least-interested audio.
I don't know exactly how long the montage sequences will go through. Right now, I am thinking maybe each sex sequence will have between 10 and 20 seconds of footage, one camera angle each. I am expecting Innie's stellar performance to carry this sequence (but then, Innie's stellar performance always carries the sex scenes; she really brings the animations to life!)
Similarly, I am starting to fear that if I have 15 sex sequences, and pair each and every one of them with four other non-sex sequences, that's going to get cumbersome real fast. So I might have to do some seat-of-my-pants designing of the montage, and only display the full cycle a few times, before it just fades away to a montage of the juicy sex sequences. I'm likely going to have to play that one by ear.
Oh, and on a final note: Samus is fully nude in these wips, but that is due to technical limitations rather than as a creative choice. In a nutshell, as I explained in the announcement post, complications with building Samus resulted in me not having all of my preproduction finished before production began.
The final versions of these sequences will have Samus in her torn Zero Suit. I just can't install it into the wips right now because... well, it doesn't exist yet.
That's all I have for now. I'm gonna keep chewing through these animations, and then switch gears to start blocking out the narrative sequences once Tuesday rolls around. Hopefully I'll have some juicy wips of some of the other scenes by next Thursday!
Until next week, everyone!
