Progress Report - April 18, 2023
🕑 Added 2023-04-19 06:00:30 +0000 UTCHello, everyone!
I planned to get this Progress Report out yesterday, but uhh, that didn't happen.
Fumates
The hold-up is I wanted to get the latest version of the Fumates pilot storyboard ready. Last week I noted how there were 32 unique sex sequences required for the pilot storyboard. Over the past week I've put all 32 of those together, with last night seeing me putting together the last 3. Let me tell you, coming up with 32 unique sex positions - 16 solo sequences, 10 threesome sequences, and 6 foursome sequences - is one hell of a task, without repeating yourself.
When I finished last night, all that was left to do was organize the raw sequences and put together the narrative interstitial between the front 20 and back 12 sequences. Was just a matter of moving shots around, so I decided to leave it for the morning. A quick 15-minute job, and then I'd write the Progress Report.
Well, 7 hours, the weekly shopping session, and a late dinner later, and that "quick 15-minute job" was finally done. I don't want to get into the gritty details, so I'll just say that the storyboard was pushing SFM's memory limits as it was, and then I decided I wanted 3 shots per sequence rather than 2, and Source Filmmaker was NOT having it. I had to refactor the entire thing, and then coax my Storyboard Generator into the unorthodox construction. It wasn't a pleasant experience.
But it's done now. Well, mostly. You can check out the storyboard here.
I ended up only getting the front 20 and the interstitial put together. I know exactly where I am going with the back 12, as well as some more narrative beats. As of right now, the storyboard is projecting an 8-minute runtime. I'm not sure exactly where I intend to call the pilot an end - I have an outline of where things go from where the storyboard ends currently, which can be briefly summed up in this order:
- Viv is woken up from her cum-stupor to the sounds of the sisters' friend joining Cass's orgy
- Viv gets right back on the horn, more juxtaposition of her abusing her poor meat-stick with Cass pleasuring three women in increasingly bold and esoteric positions
- The women finally wear Cass out and they all fall asleep together in a sweaty cuddle puddle. No brakes on the Viv train.
- Cass wakes up to the doorbell ringing, throws on her lazy sportswear outfit to get the door.
- The delivery gal notices Cass' bulge, an exasperated Cass asks if the delivery gal wants to ride her bone, she of course does and she of course does.
- After reducing the delivery gal to a quivering puddle of orgasm, Cass brings another box of condoms and some water to check on Viv. Viv hadn't slept, ate, or drank at all through the night. Cass basically forces her to drink the water.
- Cass goes into the kitchen to get Viv some cereal, and is annoyed when she comes back to Viv barely having drank more of the water than when Cass left and is already back to jerking off, basically forces Viv to eat cereal, refusing to leave until she eats.
- Cass notes that she has to go into the city for a few hours and asks if Viv will be all right on her own, Viv assures her she will be. Once the bedroom door closes, Viv gets back on the horn.
- A few hours and a few dozen condoms later, Cass comes home with another random chick, bangs her on the sofa for a few hours, before checking on Viv again.
- Cass has had it with Viv's pity jizzing, and basically drags the woman out of the house to get a pizza dinner together.
- While ordering, the gal working the register at the pizza place flirts with Viv. They take Cass' cell number so she can get notifications when the pizza is ready.
- Sitting down to wait, Cass encourages Viv to go and ask the cashier gal out. Viv is nervous about it, but Cass helps her build up her confidence. Before Viv gets up to ask, Cass gets a notification about the pizza and goes back to check it out.
- Viv notes that Cass had been gone for a while, and goes to check it out for herself - only to walk in on the cashier gal riding Cass' bone.
I'm not quite sure where to take it from there, nor if this should be part of this pilot or another episode. It feels like it should be the pilot because it's all very contiguous, but at the same time it also feels like the pilot is getting rather long at this point. I'm undecided.
You may also note that, over the course of this pilot (and for that matter the course of roughly 25 hours), Cass ends up banging 6 women (2 sisters + friend, delivery gal, random chick she brings home, and pizza cashier gal) in the time that Viv gets dumped, literally jerks herself unconscious, and then has her still-healing romantic wound reopened by a prospective crush get swept out from under her.
All of this is working to set up the tone and themes of the story, namely how Viv chases romance and is snuffed at every corner, while sex all but literally falls into Cass's lap even though she isn't even looking for it.
There is also the originally-unintended development of Cass being a sort of big-sister figure to Viv, supporting her and taking care of her when she's too miserable to manage herself. I planned for them to be much more detached, but honestly I kind of like this development better. Cass swiping Viv's prospective girlfriends out from under her feels a bit more rough this way, though. But drama breeds intrigue so, it is what it is.
All of this sets up the framework for when Sophie is introduced, whom I have stated before is slated to eventually be Viv's girlfriend. And a girlfriend that Cass won't sweep off her feet - much to Cass's relief, as she is just so tired of getting jumped by literally every woman she comes across.
I have a lot of ideas for Viv and Sophie together. I am excited to explore their dynamic, with the hopeless romantic Viv whose so used to being rejected suddenly being put on the back-foot with how dogged and determined Sophie is to be with her. For all her being perpetually horny, Viv is incredibly anxious about actually having sex with people, so Sophie all but jumping Viv's bones is too much for her, and to spoiler a fun foray, it won't be until Sophie slows down that they formally get together. But they'll have lots of hijinks before we get there.
Claire/Jill
My sound designer has been in a wicked flow state this past week, deep in the composing zone. You all have likely heard the fantastic music he put together for Primordium, and he's taken that musical zen and put it to full effect with Claire/Jill.
Last night he delivered a complete draft for review. I haven't had the time to reveal it yet, and plan to tonight, but assuming everything is looking good, the sound design for Claire/Jill is effectively done.
You can click here for a preview of the first 2 minutes of the project as it stands now. The animation isn't quite finished*, and the audio isn't necessarily final. But we're close. Very close.
Which means it's up to me pull the anchor out of my pants and get the last 7 minutes detailed. As such, as much as I am absolutely loving finally exploring these Fumates ideas (they've been rolling around in my head for the better part of a half-decade at least now), I need to put the brakes on them and redirect that energy.
I don't know if my undiagnosed ADHD will let me, but I need to. I will still be working on the Overbreed Ep1 storyboard though. Nothing notable to report there yet.
*Particular attention still being needs to be given to the upper-face animation (eyelids and eyebrows) during the first few minutes. Everything done after my hiatus has upper-face animation done, but these first few minutes were done while I was still developing the auto-jitter tool, and I was just so preoccupied and frustrated with trying to get it to work correctly that I just didn't have the mental bandwidth to animate the face. Once I dropped the auto-jitter tool and restored that bandwidth, the apparent quality of the animation immensely improves over what it seen here.
Other
I worked on Tela, my Twi'Lek a bit. Here she is with Meeri, my Togruta - poster is unfinished, so ignore the unposed lekku and fingers.
Similarly, I also added Artemis and Medusa bios to my OC profiles page. You can click here to read them.
Not much to say beyond all that. Majority of my week was spent on Fumates and the Primordium release. Hopefully next week will be more focused.
I think that's about it. Until next week everyone.
