Progress Report - September 14, 2023
🕑 Added 2023-09-14 18:48:25 +0000 UTCSorry for disappearing for half a week. Starfield has utterly captured me within its grasp.
Like no joke. I spent all of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday playing the fucking game. I have 36 hours in Starfield now. I had less than 8 when I started playing on Sunday.
I wanted to get the final render started by Monday, but that didn't happen. Curse you, Todd Howard!
But yeah, the video's done now, and the final 2160p render has started. I did a test render at 720p to make sure all the lighting and color correction played nicely (I changed the color correction from the last WIP - no more radioactive Max when she blushes!). It all works fantastically.
The 720p test render took about 11 hours to render. 2160p renders in SFM take about 3x as long as 720p renders, so that'd be about 33 hours. But I shunted it onto my render machine, which renders at about 60% the speed of my work machine. So I'm expecting 55 hours of raw render time.
For the sake of sanity I'm just going to say 3 days for the rendering. A 4th day for editing, and then a 5th day as a general buffer. All of which is to say, I am expecting the early access to be ready in 5 days.
I am therefore aiming for a Tuesday September 18th Early-Access release date. The exclusive 2160p and public 720p will be made available 5 days after the early-access release, as always.
I won't be making a Progress Report post this upcoming Monday. The next Patreon post will be the release of the Chloe/Max video. Unless something goes horribly wrong, in which case next Thursday I will make a post about what's going on and where we're going from there.
I don't expect to have to make that post. But, just in case, I want you all to be aware. I put a lot of value on transparency, and this past week I fell off the wagon there. I feel really bad about that, so I'm trying to be even more transparent now to make up for that.
See you all in a few days!
