Turns out a lot of the history on specific capstan engineering for ships of the line, let alone Man of Wars, is fractured and often contests with itself. Also, this is a setting with people who vary in strength and size compared to humans, so. . . suffice it to say, I did my best. Please, all the same, tell me if you think I got something DRASTICALLY wrong!

actually, the forecastle is the raised deck that comes after the foredeck and before the main deck.
