HeartTheft Chapters 17-18
🕑 Added 2023-11-08 14:47:57 +0000 UTCHUGE apologies, I attempted to get y'all caught up through edited chapters before I went on my cross-country trip (work-related, not as fun as it sounds, although we managed to sneak in a trip to the grand canyon :D) and apparently somehow missed posting Chap. 17. I had both files in the folder and hadn't realized only one had gone up.
So, amended, here are both chapters 17 & 18. I had zero means of posting these while I was traveling, since my Patreon was not accessible, and I didn't have the up-to-date word doc with me. I actually tried walking our home guard through the process over the phone, but could not deduce which files were edited and ready for posting, and at that point I was four days away from home, so. I'm just really sorry, is my point! I'm sure it must've sucked waiting : (

I particularly enjoyed the part where you had Cillian destroy Pascals Wager. And the scene with the quiverfull reference was really chilling. Just realizing how bad this guy really is. Your worst but best villain yet. If they live through this a story with Cillian and Malachi would be fun.

It was absolutely worth the wait and I am glad to hear you got to enjoy BLFC! I wish there was a spoiler tag for comments. Don't read the rest if you haven't read the writing, but I'll try to be vague. *SPOILER* The dichotomy you have developed of someone who is in one regard an ally, yet also pure evil and a terrifying enemy is fantastic and chilling. That was a harrowing scene and dramatically changed my perspective on the character. I also really appreciate Nicholas's development as a character in these chapters, I do feel like his personality and character strengths are becoming more clear. Very curious to see what happens next (and also not, knowing the history of your stories ;) and with how dire things feel!) I'm a bit surprised Isidor isn't picking up on some of the subtext regarding Malachi. But everything else felt super in character to me, including the final remark at the end, which is a dramatic and difficult shift to write for Isidor! Your writing is always able to capture intensity and intrigue that most others cannot come close to. proofreading nit: 'vicious argument with the love your youth', I think there should be an 'of' there!
