What’s it About?
HeartTheft is a Historical Fiction conspiracy/adventure/romance that follows Isidor, an Akita raised in an Abbey to be an investigator and spy for the powerful Church in his country, who is attempting to chase down an infamous art/antiquities thief in order to prove himself to his Order. This thief has supposedly stolen a priceless religious relic, and has been evading capture for years. Over the course of the chase and subsequent misadventures, the two find they may have more in common than they thought, and are both caught up in a conspiracy that could threaten their lives, and Isidor’s faith in his own Church.
An Enemies to Lovers story with a tumultuous burgeoning relationship that takes places over several stages of the characters chasing one another, with a whole lot of questioning of faith and sexuality for good measure.

HeartTheft is part of a collection of novels in the Red Lantern universe, a Historical Fiction setting that is not intended to be analogous for the real world, at any set point in time. The characters, places, events, religious practices, and cultures in this world are also not intended to be compared to reality, either past or present. It is a fictional setting, and the opinions and thoughts of its characters are similarly fictional. These animal people are not role models. They are flawed and messy, as is their world.
While my writing is inspired heavily by history, my own lived experience, and the lived experiences of others, I did not create Red Lantern as an analogy for our human world. Red Lantern is meant first and foremost as entertainment and to inspire creativity, open-mindedness, and empathy for those around you.

Very good as always, I was sad for Malaqui, he suffered a lot in his life, and unfortunately there was this betrayal, and he really liked Isodor, you could see how desperate he was, my pity is more for him not being able to break the chains that bound him, he was not a bad person, he was just brainwashed, he deserved more than this tragic end, now this dog monk, I have never had such a hatred for a character as this dolus, I have been very irritated with Isodor for certain things, mainly for his naivety in taking quick actions or certain attitudes

I find it hard to put into words how much this book touched me. I don't know exactly what the context is, but I have seen repeated mentions that this was very difficult to write. I just wanted to say that I'm glad that you did write this, because I can't think of a single piece of media that moved me (and made me cry) as much as this did. And while some (like everything including Malachi) hurt a lot, I still think I'm better off for having read it. I just wish I lived in a world that didn't make stories like his cut so close to home. And that we can find ways to make sure that people like Malachi can live more joyful lives instead. I'm looking forward to whatever you write next.

I figured out how to handle this. On Windows the default RTF reader (WordPad) can display the edits but gives no means to turn them off. If you download OpenOffice, it comes with OpenOffice Writer. You can use that to open the RTF. Then, under the Edit menu you can choose Changes, Accept or Reject, and then choose to accept all changes. This will leave you with the final version. I then recommend Calibre (free) to convert to an eBook format if you use any eReader apps or devices.

Just ordered the hardcover. I have been a reader of your stories (at least, the canon ones) for a little over 4 years, and I am consistently blown away by the depth of your characters, relationships, their inner journey, and the rich world you have crafted. Over the years there have been a few works of art which linger somewhere in the back of my consciousness, give me new perspectives and/or shape how I approach people and situations long after I turn the last page. Your stories do this to me. As a military veteran who grew up in a religious community and spent his entire military career in the closet, it doesn't take much imagination to understand why. You handle difficult and uncomfortable topics / situations in a deeply human way. The way your characters' persevere through conflict, moral dilemma and tragedy tugs at heart strings I thought had gone numb. Thank you for sharing these stories with us. I am happy to support your work as long as I can.
