interest check: 7" lathe cut RQ laji-2 picture discs
🕑 Added 2016-09-09 00:29:29 +0000 UTC hey all. looking at getting some of these done as $10-tier exclusives. how many of you would want one? they would be $20usd + shipping (which would be a bit more than my regular CD shipping since they are bigger and need more protection - probably $10 in north america and $15-20 overseas).you can see the design above. there are three tracks on each side. side A is xhoxolate, downpress, and c23h30n2o5. side B is a wreck, desk rotation (the brand new track), and sightseer.these are lathe cuts, so they're cut onto a plastic and not vinyl. each one is cut manually in real time and hand-made. if you have a really shitty turntable they might skip and the needle might skate. the grooves are not as deep as pressed vinyl. they are in mono and the sound quality is not the same either. however, since this is a really lo-fi project, i feel like it'll be a cool thing to put on this medium.
leave a comment if you're into the idea. i'll probably be getting 25 of these at absolute most. just a fun little side thing, not a major release by any means. there are more major releases coming in the future.

Hmm, to be honest I really like the idea, but will be waiting for a different rendition of this concept. This kinda art piece is something I would specifically get to display. So I will be looking forward to something like this being offered on a different album. I still love the idea and am on the fence about getting this one ;3

it will happen, this is more a quick DIY type project i can do locally than something really major. that comes later (see my most recent patreon post). since these are the kinds of things i can make just a few of, i think it'd be cool to offer some patreon-exclusive merch every now and again :)
I totally want it

I think it's a neat idea to do with bfb style music but generally I'd be more interested in seeing other stuff on vinyl even if it takes more time (personal opinion though and I'm still interested)

sometimes! these are usually very short run, well under 100. 10-50 is very common. the clear ones you talk about might just be clear vinyl, which is pretty normal. could be flexi-discs too which are similar in quality.

Probably won't be getting one but the idea is super cute, would be interested to see more of these later maybe!

also if i'm not mistaken, lathe cuts are often used as those clear free sample records you get with some full price records?
Definitely interested.
