Keira looked down to the floor and was playing with her fingers.
''Timo? Nina? Care to explain?'' Olivia asked.
''Like Archer said, long story. We can tell you over breakfast,'' I said.
She crossed her arms and was looking at the both of us.
''Okay, what's going on? Did I miss something? What's happening?''
''Olivia. I just wanted to say that I was really into you. But uhm... You weren't really interested. Or at least that's how it seemed.''
''I can tell how interested you are in me by the fact that you just came out of Nina's room with another girl,'' she said.
Ouch. Olivia didn't look too happy. Maybe this was a bad idea. I kind of felt bad for her. But it was just a complicated situation.
''I swear, I mean it,'' Archer said.
''Whatever,'' Olivia said.
''We can explain,'' Nina said to Olivia.
Olivia stormed back in her room and closed the door.
''Ah shit, we fucked up,'' I said to Nina.
''Sorry for your friend but we really need to go,'' Keira said.
Archer nodded,
''Yeah, again, I really didn't mean it like that. I hope she isn't mad at you guys.''
''We'll be fine, just go before you are late. We'll talk about it,'' I said.
We gave them both a hug,
''Thanks for this crazy experience and for letting us stay over for the night,'' Keira said.
''You're more than welcome. We should meet up when I move to the UK,'' Nina said.
''Yes, please, definitely. Bye, guys. Take care,'' Keira said.
The two left the resort and Nina and I looked at each other.
''Let me go talk to Olivia,'' she said.
She walked over to the room and knocked on the door.
''Olivia, can I come in?''
''No, I don't want to talk to you right now,'' Olivia said.
''Please? Just hear me out.''
No response.
''Can we talk later today?'' Nina asked.
No response.
Nina knocked again.
''Olivia?''
No response.
She sighed,
''Maybe...''
''Just so you know, we are really sorry. We didn't mean to hurt you. I know you liked Archer. But just... Yeah, sorry. Let's talk about this later, okay? Please.''
Nina stood there for a few seconds and was waiting for a response. She waited a bit and then slowly made her way towards me.
''I think she needs some time alone. I feel terrible now. We shouldn't have done this,'' Nina said.
''I feel really bad now too. I just hope we didn't fuck up our friendship in the last week here,'' I said.
''It will be okay. I hope.''
We didn't know what else to do and just decided to go to work. I had a weird feeling in my stomach as I made my way to the bar. Olivia has become one of my best friends over the summer and now that it's almost over, I don't want anything bad to happen. I didn't want to hurt her feeling, I never wanted that.
''Goodmorning Timo,'' Nathalie smiled at me upon my arrival.
''Hey Nath,'' I said.
She gave me a concerned look,
''Is everything alright? You look a bit worried or sad. I can't quite place it. Are you okay?''
''Uhm, yeah, kinda. Nina and I might have upset Olivia.''
''What did you do now?'' She asked.
''Long story,'' I said.
''Do you want to talk about it? If it makes you feel better?''
''Timo, there you are,'' I heard Isabela's voice say.

''You're not working at the bar today,'' she said to me.
''What? Why not? I thought...''
''You're needed elsewhere. We need a lot of stuff for the summer ending orgy this week, and we are still lacking a lot. I need some strong hands to help me pick up the rest of the equipment and set it up.''

She turned around and left the bar.
I looked over at Nathalie.
''So, you're going to leave me here again?'' She joked.

I made my way outside and saw Isabela already waiting for me.
''I'll drive, get in,'' she said.
We hopped in the van but Isabela didn't start driving immediately.
''I thought we were in a rush,'' I said.
''We are. But I need another hand so we'll be... Oh, there she is,'' she said and unlocked the door.
The door swung open and a surprised face greeted me.
Uh, oh. Of course it had to be Olivia.
''Come on get in, we have a lot to do, hurry up.''
Olivia looked at me and seemed a bit angry. I didn't say a word and just kept my mouth shut. It was a three-seat van and with Isabela driving, I was now in the middle between both of them.
''How are you doing Olivia?'' Isabela asked.
''Fine...'' She said.
''You guys don't greet each other anymore?'' Isabela asked.
''Can we just go?'' Olivia asked.
Isabela raised an eyebrow,
''Someone is a bit grumpy today.''
Isabela started the car and was driving out of the resort. She was playing some music, and it was a very uncomfortable silence. Olivia and I weren't looking at each other, and we were both avoiding eye contact. She was just looking out of the window, and I was staring straight ahead. I hated it so much, this was Olivia, not Maddison. She is one of my best friends and we should be laughing and talking. After everything that we had experienced here, this was just heartbreaking.
''Is something wrong with you two? Normally you are talking non-stop and now it's like you're strangers.''
''I'm just tired,'' Olivia said.
Isabela didn't believe her and was still looking at the both of us.
''What is it then? Why is no one saying anything?''
The awkward silence was still filling the car.
''What kind of drama is this now? Seriously. We're all grownups, let's act like it and communicate properly. You two are making this car ride so uncomfortable.''
Neither Olivia or I said anything and were still keeping quiet.
Isabela sighed,
''Seriously, you guys. What's going on? You two get along so well and now it's like this? What's going on?!''
I looked over at Olivia who was still looking out of the window and was refusing to make eye contact.
''Don't want to talk about it right now,'' Olivia said.
''Okay, well, fine then,'' Isabela said and turned the music up a bit louder.
I really wanted to talk to Olivia but she didn't seem to want that. I kept looking at her and tried to get her attention, but she was just looking away from me. I felt so terrible. I didn't want this, I never wanted this. This is not what I had in mind. A few minutes later, Isabela parked the van,
''First stop,'' she said.
Olivia got out of the van first and I quickly grabbed her hand,
''Can we please talk later? Please?''
She gave me a cold stare,
''We have work to do,'' she said and pulled her hand back.
Ouch. She was really upset. The three of us made our way inside and were greeted by a bunch of staff members.
''Olivia can you start taking inventory of everything, and you two start putting everything into the van. I'll be back soon.''
Olivia didn't say anything and started looking at everything. Isabela walked away and I looked at the stuff in front of me. I guess, I'll have to focus on my job then. I'm so upset, ugh. We went to work in absolute silence and just did what we were supposed to do. It was a big warehouse filled with a ton of stuff. Some was used, and some was new. Olivia was counting and writing everything down.
''Hey, uhm, I just want to say that I'm really sorry, I...''

Isabela came back about half an hour later.
''Timo can you give me a hand?'' She asked.
''Sure,'' I said and followed her.
''Okay, what's going on between the two of you? I know you guys are close, but it feels like a fight. I haven't seen Olivia so angry or annoyed since the start of summer. So, tell me, what's happening?''
I took a deep breath and told her the entire story.
''I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I didn't want to hurt her. I didn't want any of this. And now she's really upset.''
''Jeez, feels like some high school drama. You guys have been fucking all summer and been fucking around with all these other people and this is what is happening now?''

Isabela crossed her arms and was shaking her head.
''From what I heard, it seems like she wasn't that interested in him. Like at all. So, what is the big deal?''

''I think she actually did like him. Or maybe she was still upset about what happened with Maddison, I don't know. But she was interested, and now...''
''Anyway, just talk to her, you're going to have to eventually, you're not just going to ignore each other until the end of summer, are you?''

Isabela was right. This was ridiculous, and we needed to talk.
''Okay, yeah. You're right. Thanks, Isabela, I appreciate it.''
She smiled,
''You're welcome. Now, can we finally get back to work and have some peace and quiet?''
I laughed,
''Yes, sorry. We can.''
I followed her outside and made my way towards Olivia.
''Can we talk?''

''Please...''
''Olivia, Timo, can you go to the next store and come back here? Thanks,'' Isabela said.
She knew what she was doing, and she was trying to help. She handed me the keys and the two of us got in the van. The air was still thick and it was an awkward silence. I started the car and made my way towards the next destination. I drove through the small city and was trying to think of the right words. I was really nervous, and the butterflies were going crazy in my stomach.
''Olivia, can you please look at me?''
She turned her head and was looking at me,
''What?''
I took a deep breath and tried to figure out the right words.
''Olivia, I am so sorry. I really didn't want any of this to happen. We had an amazing time this summer. I really love spending time with you, and we have had so many amazing moments. And now...''

''Olivia, you are one of the sweetest, funniest, and coolest people I have ever met. I consider you one of my closest friends, and I am so glad we got to spend this summer together. We had the best times, and I just don't want anything to ruin this.''
She looked away from me,
''Why did you guys have to take him home, out of everyone?''
''We didn't take him home. Look it's a complicated story,'' I said.

''Yes, that other girl, Keira. That was the girl we were talking to and who's boyfriend almost beat me up,'' I said.
''He should have beaten you up,'' she said.

Archer told me that he was really into you but he thought that you weren't interested. So, when you left him at the bar he just moved on,'' I said.

She was looking out of the window and was sighing.

I saw a tear falling down her face.
''Hey, hey. Come here,'' I said and gave her a hug.

''I didn't have a problem with the summer ending at first but now that it comes closer... ''Are Lisa and Steven still living in Belgium?'' She asked.
''Yeah, but besides them, I don't really have a lot of friends back home. I really opened up here this summer, and it has been incredible. But the idea of going back home and getting back into my boring old life. Yeah, that sounds like a drag. And it will also be hard not waking up to Nina every day. Or not being able to talk to her whenever I want. It will be weird.''
''You and Nina are made for each other, please don't worry about that.''

''It has been really fun to see you grow over the summer. At first I thought you were this silent awkward guy, and you were, but you've changed so much. And it was also cool to see how you were with Nina, she's so different than last year. She seems a lot happier, and more confident. It's amazing, honestly. You two are good for each other.''
''Thanks Olivia, I really appreciate that. I also love seeing how much you've grown. And to think we didn't get along well in the beginning. You really made a big impact on me and my life, and you've become a really good friend. So, thank you, for everything. I was afraid to lose you this morning,'' I said.
I looked her in the eyes and her brown eyes were piercing through mine.
''Oh, you are not getting rid of me so easily,'' she giggled.
She wiped away the last tears,
''Come on, enough with the sappy shit, let's get back to work. Isabela will be furious if we're gone for too long.''
I'm glad we're good again. I really didn't want the summer to end with drama between us. I didn't know that Manuel was seeing another girl, so that must suck for her. But she is one of the best looking and interesting girls I know so I doubt that she will have trouble finding someone when she moves to the UK.
''So, how was he?'' Olivia asked me.
I looked at her,

''Archer,'' she chuckled.

We drove to a couple more places and picked up the stuff from the story. Olivia and I were joking around and everything seemed back to normal again. We returned to the warehouse and were unloading the van.
''Seems like you two are talking again, so the car ride went well?'' Isabela asked.
''Yeah, it's all good now,'' I said.
''Good, I'm getting too old for this high school type drama,'' Isabela said.
''Sorry for being so difficult this morning, Isabela,'' Olivia smiled.
''It's okay, as long as we are done with it. Anyway, let's get some lunch, shall we?''
The three of us made our way to the nearest restaurant and sat down. The weather was great, and the sun was shining brightly. The wind was blowing softly, and it was a warm sunny day. Olivia told Isabela the entire story and was talking about her ex-boyfriend.
''So yeah... He's seeing another girl now,'' Olivia said.
''Ah, that's tough. Break-ups are never easy, I was surprised how good you were feeling after the break up.''

Isabela took a bite of her pasta and was taking a sip of her water.
''Thank you, Isabela. That means a lot. So, what about this club I've been hearing about you want to open up in London? Are you excited?'' Olivia asked.

''Oh, yeah, that has been on our minds for quite some time. We are happy to finally open it up. We are looking forward to the opportunity.''
''Are you going to move to London too?'' Olivia asked.
''No, no, the weather is far too grey there. We will stay in Spain but we'll be over a lot,'' she said.
''Are you not going to run the place like the resort?'' Olivia said.
''I'm only here during the summer so maybe. But we'll be having other people run the place for us, but I'll be there a lot, especially at the start,'' Isabela said.
''Are we welcome to visit?'' I asked.
''I don't know, are you?'' Isabela said.
Olivia and I both chuckled.
''Maybe, it depends. I can't promise you anything,'' she said.
''I heard you will also be joining us on the trip later this week?'' I asked.
''I will, and Gerard too,'' Isabela said.

We finished our lunch and got back into the van. We returned to the warehouse and picked up a few more things. We dropped it off at the resort and helped unload the van.
''Now you can go back to the bar. Thanks for helping, I appreciate it,'' Isabela said.
It has been an intense day, and I'm glad that Olivia and I are friends again. I made my way to the bar and saw Nina having lunch.

I gave her a kiss and sat down next to her.
