Those old carbon dust Xeroxs will be priced again to make copies of George Orwell or anything not aligned with the grand narrative. It is time to learn from the Cubans

As dire as people may perceive the fore coming of the control in mainstream media, the situation may not turn out as dark as those written in 1984 with relatively open internet access. However, the picture is clear now that the society will be highly stratified in the future. People of higher social status will still enjoy relative freedom with their resources and time to spare for taking over the burden of their children’s education; those underprivileged or in disadvantages are going to be suffered the most, as they rely heavily on mainstream media and the government. It is not a bright future for the next generation and the society as a whole with no social mobility. The lower class with limited training in critical thinking will be likely trapped at the bottom.

Whenever we watch a movie, or a television drama, there is a disclaimer that said “This is a work of fiction. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is purely coincidental.” Under this new category, authority seems to think that the audience is completely incapable to distinguish what is or isn’t real. “1984” is fast becoming a reality in HK. RIP to critical thinking and independent mindset. This is also how perpetual thinking of irrational fear and victimhood being weaponised as a form of indoctrination.
