Your observation is so right that CCP has alteady prepared for all the collateral damages inflicted by the evil deeds they committed. Back to the 90's, CCP did need Hong Kong so much. The GDP weighed the highest among all the cities in China. Now, Hong Kong only contributed around 2.9 percent of the country GDP. What does it tell? Some may argue that CCP still needs us in foreign exchange. Maybe, China does not really care if Remanbi is an international currency. They get lots of channels to earn the yuS dollars. That may explain why they really really do not care about the international condemnation or sanction. From the CCP perspective, getting the full control of Hong Kong conquers all. Maybe, the end of Apple daily also marks the formal establishment of Southern Shenzhen in China.
