@Charles Yen it is far too simplistic to blame Biden for the fallout. Those points I highlighted providing a broader perspective. It was unfortunate that Trump’s role was omitted in the analysis. It is dangerous to conflate opinions as facts.

War is complicated, and it is always the continuation of agenda-driven politics. The crisis we are seeing today is a combustible combination of a weak Afghan government, and a wealthy, powerful and resourceful insurgent (The Taliban is one of the largest opium exporters) , combining with the failure of intelligence community in their assessments of local forces’ resistance against the Taliban, when the withdrawal commenced. Don’t forget Trump was actively negotiating with the Taliban on the U.S. withdrawal without the Afghan government’s participation. Also, Trump facilitated the release of Abdul Ghani Baradar in a Pakistan’s prison 3 years ago. And He is a leader of the Taliban. You have to wonder why the local military force gave up Kabul so easily. Let’s not forget the Taliban should be treated as an extremist organization, who would definitely exert violence against the non-believers and “foreign government assistants”, despite their claims of a peaceful reclamation. 特朗普時代美國係就係同傳統盟友關係上有啲矛盾，但係面對“傳統敵人”同第三世界嘅手法的確有獨特嘅一套，當時嘅國際環境無可否認相對穩定。數下拜登上場之後有幾多危機出現：東烏、緬甸、阿富汗，黎緊朝鮮可能又再撩交嘈。

It is really hard to say if the Sino US tension will be heightened because of this but it is apparent that, as professor rightly pointed out, Biden's government had made a fatal mistake in judgment of the situation in Afghanistan. This embarrassing failure has definitely hampered others' confidence to him. Put it this way, if you were one of the leaders in the US allies, would you still trust that Joe biden is a capable and wise leader fighting against or suppressing the rise of the new Axis Alliance in the twenty first century (this term may not be a right one but we all know that the new cold war is coming)... common sense tells us that he needs more time to remedy this.... considering his age and obvious onset symptoms of dementia, his administration is doomed to be a failure......
